Sweet Freak Beat 4 Feb 2008
By Searle
Format:Audio CD
For those who demanded more. This is a second serving of psychedelic sweets. Some olde, some new. Some rare, some irreverent. Some garage, some psych, some just plain odd. But all guaranteed to expand your gland. So get with it. Get off it and get psychedelisized.

Tracks include..

Alonza Second Sight

This nice slice of psychedelica proves that bass players do it better. Having played with some of Rock's biggest names as well as having huge success with his own group of magically mystic mods Kula Shaker, Alonza's all seeing kool shakes and shimmers through this whirling pop sensation.

The Factory Try A Little Sunshine

Brilliant British sixties Psych. The 7" single of this tune sells for hundreds.

Monique Maasen & The Mauve Safety Lite

From Dussledorf. This cosmic mind melder features the beautiful voice of Monique Maasen. Jazz diva and Rock chic. Frontwoman of such Teutonic metal outfits as Asmodi Bizarr, The Beatlesons and all girl punkers B Bang Cider.

The Woggles Ramadan Romance

From Athens, Georgia, The Woggles crank up this wise and wailin' garage smart ode of how a young manic romantic's thirst for the exotic was quenched under the skilful tutorage of a lustful belly dancer. And psychoactive sweet meats.

Jarvis Humby Straighten My Mind

R+B garage psych with a melody to boot.

The James Coburn Cool Juicer

As the man in the corduroy suit or the cowboy who could throw a knife quicker than his opponent could shoot, James H Coburn's silver hair stole the silver screen. He blew up trains in A Fist Full Of Dynamite, saved the world, twice, as Derek Flint, and cycled to freedom in The Great Escape. Little is known, however, of his great love of gongs. In The President's Analyst, when Coburn played the gong in the Hippy band Clearlight, he really did play them. He collected gongs and loved to play them to any lucky visitors willing to listen.
Whether or not this oddity is by the late great James Coburn or just another garage group re-working of Louie Louie is not certain. But it is still very cool.

The Remains Don't Tell The Truth

In 1964 The Remains took Boston by storm. By New Years Day 1965, The Remains were signed to a major recording deal. By the end of the `65 they had several hit singles, an album and had performed for 14 million viewers on Ed Sullivan's Christmas Show. In 1966, they appeared on NBC TV's Hulaballoo, and won a coveted spot as opening act on The Beatles' U.S. tour.
Now, over three decades later, Barry Tashian, Vern Miller, Bill Briggs and Chip Damiani are back. The Remains are once again taking the music scene by storm.

Kitchener The Magic Lounge About

Andy Lewis featuring Andy Ellison Disappear Across The Sky

Jack of all trades and master of all, Professor Lewis is a dancer of some frightening ability plus a DJ and record producer. He also found time to knock up a critically acclaimed debut album (Billion Pound Project) a track from which featured on Sugarlumps1 also featuring top 60's face Andy Ellison
from top pop mod group Johns Children.

Jensen Interceptor Fetch The Stick

Known to be members of the mysterious Bohemian Underground Movement,
this big band fuzz fest soars and grooves whilst managing to capture
the sounds and smells of the "craze" that's sweeping the planet...dogging.

Men From S.P.E.C.T.R.E. Purple Pill Party
(Janser/Germann/Saurer/Keller) Copyright Control.
Keyboards - Mario Janser
Guitar - Gerry Germann
Drums - Stefan Saurer
Bass - Rolf Keler
Percussion - Robert Ebler
P 2006 Hammondbeat Records

Don't, whatever you do, purchase the Monkeys Claw from Peter Cushing.
Don't take the brown Acid either. Nor take sweets from strangers or food from a dog or candy from a baby. Never put anything in your mouth bigger than your head. Don't drink Buckfasts. Do however, drop the purple tablets and do the frug with Men From S.P.E.C.T.R.E who are from Switzerland.

Flying Pudding Watching The Machine

From Blackall, Australia, this gnarly three piece produce a loud toxic and intoxicating sound. They attribute their alarming style to being tooled up on cheap wine and thick cough mixture. Not for the faint hearted.

Quiet Melon Diamond Joe

Those familiar with Sugarlumps 1 will know of this strangely drunken super group. Legend has it that when Steve Marriott left The Small Faces, the rest of the band recorded two tracks by way of audition featuring Rod Stewart and Art Wood of the Artwoods. Rod had the best voice and was the top mod so got the gig. They formed The Faces. Here is a previously unreleased version of this beery Hey Joe-esque work out.

nut The Beatle Makes Noise On Wet Grass

This extraordinary Frank Zappa-esque mental madsterpiece is based around a Polish tongue twister.
"CHRZASZCZ BRZMI W TRZCINIE W SZCZEBRZESZYNIE". Which means "The beetle makes noise on wet grass" according to Polish Folk law - say it three times (IN POLISH) fast, and grow an extra foot. Try it NOW!

Sweet Willy End

Sweet Willy was a founder member of Brisbane rockers The Standing Eight Counts (see Sugarlumps1). And now a crazed recording artist in his own right plus a member of London indie darlings The People's Revolutionary Choir.

All Recomended.

Groovy tunes 17 Oct 2008

Sugarlumps 2
A Psychedelic Second Selection Of Groovy Garage and Sweet Freak Beat.

For those who demanded more. Here is your second serving of psychedelic sweets. Some olde, some new. Some rare, some irreverent. Some garage, some psych, some just plain odd. But all guaranteed to expand your gland. So get with it. Get off it and get psychedelisized.

The Factory Try A Little Sunshine

T'was a muggy summers evening when our friend Bill Macleod, tongue loosened by convivial company and warm London Ale, spoke of a long gone groovier time. Colourful nostalgic tales of his youth. Running errands at The Apple Building and buying smokes for Ringo Starr . "We are releasing a psychedelic record" we said. Did he know any suitable pop groups?" He thought long and hard "Not really" he nodded playing with the remains of his beer. He changed the subject to people, politics and property prices then mentioned that he was the drummer in The Factory.

Skill!

Fresh from their triumph at Little Steven's Underground Garage Festival
in Randall's Island New York U.S.A, and the outrageous American tour that followed as a result, The Humby were set to record a second album in the states with Mod God Graham Day of The Prisoners producing. However, we have chosen to include here a rare demo rather than a finished work with all its fancy foppish studio production. We feel it better captures the raw animal energy of their live show ........and they hadn't finished a studio track in time for this release.

The James Coburn Cool Juicer
As the man in the corduroy suit or the cowboy who could throw a knife quicker than his opponent could shoot, James H Coburn's silver hair stole the silver screen. A Modtastic Must 12 Jun 2010
Format:Audio CD
This is a must for all Mods who are fed up with the usual, run of the mill tunes associated with the Mod Movement. This second collection has some banging, trippy tunes that sound timeless.
