Product Description
Sugar Hill, a once prosperous part of Harlem, is now a jungle of poverty, drugs and chaos, at the top of which stands Roemello Skuggs (Wesley Snipes). Wielding his dominance like a shield, he protects his father and brother, Raynathan (Michael Wright).
It is only when he meets the beautiful Melissa (Theresa Randle), an ambitious, struggling actress, that he decides to move on, to escape Sugar Hill with his family intact. Pursued by rival gangs and the Mafia, the struggle Roemello faces the need for love, the power of family threatens to destroy him and yet may be his last brilliant hope.

This is an excellent movie with a tremendous performance by Wesley Snipes. He is a much better actor than he gets credit for, with terrific range.
A story of a street drug dealer trying to break free of the life he has led. Unfortunately, circumstances and people conspire to threaten his dreams. A very interesting, thoughtful movie, with a great performance by Snipes and Clarence Williams.

Like most films in the late 80's to 90's there was not that many black films about in espically that in England where I am from, these type of films were like a treat for most black people back then. I remember my mother watching this film when I was very young there was a few bits from this film that stuck out. Me and my fella was going on a about good black films that we have watched over the years than sugar hill came up. I decided to purchase and was happy that it was a great price. I must say I really enjoyed this film and being much older I understood the film better than I did as a child. I think of wesley snipes in this film is the improved version of (Nino Brown) the charecter that he plays on New Jack City. Sugar hill is a film about drugs like New Jack City but Snipes charecter in this film is more toned down, he has a caring and loving side that we did not see on New Jack City. This film does have a few violent scenes and touches upon how drugs is nasty killer whether you are using drugs or selling them. Snipes fan this is one for the collection if you don't own it get it.

I have had this on VIDEO that I taped from SKY years ago and couldn't bring myself to watch it any more and decided I wanted this on a disc......am so glad I made this purchase to add to my collection. Arrived nicely packaged.
