To be fair the author, he is upfront about the fact that this book features just 56 out of the close to 700 churches in Suffolk, making it a highly personal and subjective selection. There's no room for Eye or Lavenham, though this is counterbalanced by the similarly grand Southwold and Long Melford. There are some lovely photos here, some taken in bright conditions, others in flat light, which isn't quite so flattering. One or two haven't been reproduced particularly well, including the frontispiece showing the interior of Southwold, with rather obvious burnt-out highlights in the east window, but hey-ho, that's one of the possible downsides of digital photography. All in all and nice book, but to my eyes there are some surprising omissions, balnaced by some revealing inclusions.
