What could be better than 69 super fast, super hot short stories curated by none other than Ms Alison Tyler - erotica's too-cool-for-school head girl? I've had so much fun reading these bite-sized chunks of Sudden Sex that naturally I was thrilled to be given the chance to review some of them.
I've known Giselle Renarde via twitter for a little while and I love her sense of humour; but up until now I was not really familiar with her writing. However, Gisele has three fantastic stories in the Sudden Sex anthology and I can thoroughly recommend all of them.
The first, Girls Sleep with Girls, will carry you back to a more innocent age, perhaps to your college days and those early adventures with new boyfriends and old girlfriends - and plenty of fun all round! It brought to mind the song lyrics of Love the One You're With and Renarde tells her story with a lightness of touch and a good dose of humour. And naturally the sex is damned hot!
Renarde's second story in the anthology is called is called Queen of Parking Lot Blow Jobs and this is the one I like the best. It packs a delightful twist up front and continues to delight through to the end. But I am not going to say more than that as I don't want to spoil the surprise for you.
If You Know Where to Look is the third of her three contributions. This is a much darker story with something of an air of melancholy and, towards the end, even malice. But as always with Renarde, the sex is good; her writing is of the highest quality.
Taking all three stories together, Renarde gives us plenty to chew upon, with some nice changes of pace up and down, and the different settings and moods contribute well to the patchwork quilt that is Sudden Sex. Way to go, Giselle!
(I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.)
