This is a 2CD set containing 35 tracks of modern 'stoner rock' bands covering '70s rock tunes by Led Zeppelin, The Stooges, Hawkwind etc. Some are almost identical to the originals (yet somehow louder). Highlights for me are, Throttlerod's take on Black Betty (Ram Jam), Alabama Thunderpussy's Hymn 43 (Jethro Tull), Gideon Smith & the Dixie Damned's The Pusher (Steppenwolf) but my favourite is Lowrider's Freelance Fiend (Leaf Hound). It's always good to hear bands acknowledging their roots & it's led me to check out some of these old artists, and reappraise one's I'd forgotten which can't be bad. It's a heavy couple of hours but it sounds like a good time was had by all involved.

I am a new comer to Sasquatch as I've only recently accidently introduced myself to Pschydelic Rock, starting with Atomic Bitchwax, Corrosion of Conformity, Greenleaf, Hermano and so on.

As I haven't currently heard much of the band I can't say whether this is "their best album" but it's certainly a must buy for fans and even new comers like myself!

66.6% Quality ... 25 May 2003
By "The Woj" - Published on Amazon.com

I hate to disagree with previous reviewers, but this is pretty much a hit or miss affair (as is the case with most cover/tribute albums). I'd actually give it 3 1/2 stars. After one complete spin, you'll make a mental note of your favorite track numbers and skip over about 1/3 of each disc. But hey, under 10 bucks on a used 2 cd set....that ain't too bad (you'll be unhappy if you drop 20 bucks for new). It's a great way to sample many of these bands and check out their chops. Trying to breath life into 70's classics ain't that easy; yet some of these bands pull it off. Standouts include Spirit Caravan kicking the sh&t out of Sabbath's "Wicked World"; history will show Wino is God and not Clapton. Novadriver's cover of T-Rex's "20th Century Boy" rocks heavy, really heavy (especially if
you can get the obnoxious Mitsubishi commercial out of your memory). On the negative flip, Raging Slab's attempt at Grand Funk's "American Band" is flat out brutal; the drummer can't get the intro drum pattern correct and the lead guitar makes Mark Farner's original leads seem like Hendrix. All in all a decent collection for anyone interested in
samplin' some stoner and interested in making further purchases in the stoner genre (did I just say genre?).
If you've
got Stoner.com bookmarked on your browser this 2 cd set is no brainer for you.

Are you ready to ROCK!!!? 11 Oct 2008
By Jon L. Bullard - Published on Amazon.com
These guys rock! It ain't perfect and it aint pretty but it rocks. It's straighforward in-your-face grungy rock. No gimmicks! Just stripped down to the bone rock...and that's why it's great! Please don't change and get "creative" or try to keep up with the "trends" like Metallica did. Both Sasquatch albums rock and I would highly recommend that you check 'em out.

Good solid rock 'n' roll 25 Dec 2008

Good stoner rock fun. The first song "Let it in" starts off with some sort of Om-like bass drone, but then it comes in with a Filter-like guitar riff before the band just picks up like Soundgarden or some sort of Blue Cheer/Iron Butterfly combo with a lot of Clutch thrown in. Name checking all of those players means that Sasquatch really do have a great big huge `ol sound (and probably rule as a live act), and most of the songs on II are kickers, even if they are shorter than the usual stoner rock fare and not quite as awe-inspiringly heavy as Acid King or Electric Wizard. But, not being as dark as those bands, they are quite good fun in the Atomic Bitchwax sense of the term, if slightly less blistering. I'm fascinated by the cover, which has a sort of retro Good/Bad/Ugly feel to it, and I was attracted to the generally good reviews the album has gotten. I may be one of the few (only?) people in Singapore to have a copy of this slab of good times. Highlight is "Seven Years to Saturn," which is a dense pile of heavy goop with a stutteringly brilliant solo. "Nikki" and "Catalina" are trippy hippy dippy stuff that wouldn't have been out of place on a Mother Love Bone/Temple of the Dog/Pearl Jam album. "What Have You Done" closes the album, at over seven minutes in length it is a sludgy, grungy rocker worthy of "Louder Than Love"-era Soundgarden. Good stuff guys, keep up the good work.

AWESOME!!! 27 Dec 2007

I missed these guys at SXSW and I'm STILL kicking myself for not getting to the venue earlier!!! These guys know how to lay down some bottom-dragging freakin' stoner rock. There are days I've just got to listen to this album... it's the only thing that will fit my mood that day.

"The Judge" and "Pleasure To Burn" are tracks that will stick in your mind for days and are sure to become favorites on your iPod (especially at the gym!)

Pure tallent... great ball-bustin' rock-n-roll... you need to buy this album!
