Video Description

Ray `Harley' Davidson is a hustler. With flash clothes and a fast mouth, Harley lives life in the fast lane. With his passion for all things gambling, money runs like water through Harley's hands and as quickly as he makes a killing he takes a beating, normally at the poker table. Nominally an illegal prize-fight manager, Harley hasn't produced a live one in months, until Charles Buchinsky literally wanders into his life.

Charles Buchinsky, street fighter extraordinaire. He's from out of town looking for a fight and the chance to tie up a few loose ends. Keeps himself to himself, lets his fists do the talking and his word is his bond.

Victor Maitland, top illegal fight promoter and porn baron. Hates losing and loves the prestige of managing the best hitter in town.

Harley dreams of bringing Maitland down and after seeing Buchinsky at work, engineers a fragile partnership. The duo soon becomes a hot ticket, Charles knocking out all-comers, Harley cleaning up the side-bets. Old habits die hard, however, and Harley squanders the money as quickly as Charles earns it. This alerts Maitland, who offers to buy out Buchinsky's contract. Harley refuses, and to make matters worse, Buchinsky defeats the gangster's best fighter in a brutal contest.

A second offer is rebuked, but after another disastrous gambling spree, Harley finds himself heavily in debt to a local loan shark. Seeing his opportunity, Maitland buys the debt and now Harley owes him. Unless Buchinsky agrees to fight a top professional, brought in from the North, using all his winnings as the stake, Harley will never walk again. Harley's fate lays in the balance and only one question remains; will Buchinsky show up for the fight of his life?

Having been fortunate enough to see this movie prior to release i can honestly say it is well worth watching. There are some great action scenes with a credible, gritty and realistic story line. The comedy elements in the film widen its appeal to both sexes so i am sure my girlfriend will enjoy this film as much as i did.

Last night I got to watch this movie at my company where it was screened in aid of charity and also had the priviledge of meeting and chatting to the writer/director as well as Danny joining us for the screening. After hearing how little both he and the rest of the crew had to work with and what they went through in order to produce this film, I have to say I have the utmost respect for them. He had a script he believed in, he believed in himself and went ahead and made a movie that is entertaining for both men and women. The fight scenes are believable too. A low budget flick worth watching!!! And one last thing, Malcolm is such a genuine guy and very helpful in answering my questions about writing the film. Was great to meet you!

Clunking 6 Aug 2008
Format:DVD
There are bits of this film that are good but there's so much of it that just clunks so badly. Large sections of it are so wooden you could make pallets out of it. Danny John Jules is good but he's having to work so hard because the Fighter is pure Chipboard ( He's so poor I cannot even be bothered to check his name - probably for the best). He tries to play the strong silent type but he has no charisma at all. Has he acted before because he's way out of his depth in this? The Director thinks he's doing a Lock Stock job but he continues the crate-like dominance of this film. There's no zip about his direction. Yes the fight scenes do help it but the script is infantile in its content - dreamy shots of lone boxer staring at the river reflecting on something in his past. Just lazy and cliched. It nearly caught a whiff of 'Minder' on occasions but soon lost it. At the end I just couldn't see the point why someone had put up the money for this to be made.
