Product Description

Product Description

Takes the reader on a warped ride through London and the lives of four different characters - Bea, Brian, Mucky Marcus and Nonny - all struggling to understand the meaning of love in the nineties. They know it's all just a game, even if the rules are bent and the players less than honest.

3.0 out of 5 stars Refreshingly different character/life study, 7 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Sucker (Paperback)
Written in a really interesting style - as if you were 'thinking' the words. Ideas lead from one to the other like thought processes. The book guides the reader through poignant and funny observations on life and love, joining up pieces of a jigsaw as it goes. Don't read this if you want a book with loads of action - that's not the idea. There is a small amount of bad language but it's not intrusive.

It's been a while since I haven't been able to put a book down but I found this one really captivating and recommend it especially if you're bored with the norm!

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating and clever, 3 Mar 2000
This review is from: Sucker (Paperback)
I actually found this book superb. I think the craft of writing a book like this which shares a mildly satirical type of prose with a lot of well, space - is a jolly hard one. If you like the women's genre kind of read but want a little more meaning from it, then this is the one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Well written, but plot missing., 19 Feb 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Sucker (Paperback)
The poetic, rambling style of this novel is attractive and readable, but the lack of a plot is a big deal. The end particularly just fizzles out, leaving the reader thinking: yeah, so what?

Not bad, but nothing special.
