Brilliant Piece Of Work From An Inspiring Artist, 11 Oct 2001
By A Customer
Victoria's Not Such An Innocent Girl is a brilliant pop track that celebrates pop music in itself. At a time where everyone is trying to fit in to this image, Victoria rebels against that and comes up with a totally brilliant pop single. Not Such An Innocent Girl is an up tempo dance track with sexy lyrics, and takes you back to the original and unique sound of the Spice Girls. This song really proves that she is a very talented singer, and artist. Throughout the lovely meledies, you can hear her wisper and pout which takes this song to a whole new level. The single includes a great b side entitled In Your Dreams. In Your Dreams is a heart warming ballad that evens out this single. She truly expresses her love with this song. And if thats not enough, there is a brilliant remix of Not Such An Innocent Girl. This remix brings you back to her previous garage single (Out Of Your Mind) and turns it in to a very brilliant piece of garage material. The single completely transforms with this remix and its like Not Such An Innocent Girl is a whole new song. This single is defenitely worth buying. It is wicked and celebrates British pop music throughout its glory.

You can't blame the girl for trying, can you!, 24 Jan 2003
Amidst mainly negative publicity up against Kylie Minogue's uber-hit 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head', Victoria promoted the *** out of this single. Top Of The Pops, CD:UK, cheesy Saturday morning television shows, as well as a couple of ill-fated roadshows (lip ring, anyone?) ... all to seemingly no avail. Quite a shame because the song is a corker. 'Not Such An Innocent Girl' seems somewhat of a hybrid between the slick European pop finish that has emerged in the last ten years, and a more urban sound thanks to the likes of American producers Darkchild and Timbaland. With a catchy chorus and surprisingly above-average vocals from La Beckham, this is generic R'n'B-come-pop at its very best. The B-side, 'In Your Dreams', is a colour-by-numbers ballad dedicated to Tor's son Brooklyn, and despite the cheesy lyrics manages to be quite a nice tune which is arguably better than a couple of the ballads on Victoria's album. Add to the mix a superb remix of '...Innocent Girl' by UK garage DJ's Sunship, and you've got a rather nice little package. (For Victoria audophiles, try and track down the Australian 5-track release of this single - it also features the two promo-only Robbie Rivera club mixes). Alright, so the song wasn't as cutting edge as 'Out Of Your Mind'. Victoria didn't exactly stretch herself. And perhaps the blonde wig vs black wig, good girl vs bad girl concept was a little too much for the public to cope with. But in retrospect this was a darn good debut solo single which deserved a much longer chart lifespan than it got. And hey, at least it's better than Mel B's efforts...
