Book Description

30 Mar 2010 Georgina Kincaid

Georgina Kincaid has formidable powers. Immortality, seduction, shape-shifting into any human form she desires, walking in heels that would cripple mere mortals - all child's play to a succubus like her.

Helping to plan her ex-boyfriend's wedding is a different story. Georgina isn't sure which is worse - that Seth is marrying another woman, or that Georgina has to run all over Seattle trying on bridesmaid dresses. Still, there are distractions. Georgina's roommate, Roman, is cluttering her apartment with sexual tension. Then there's Simone, the new succubus in town, who's intent on corrupting Seth.

But the real danger lies in the mysterious force that's visiting her thoughts, trying to draw her into a dark, otherworldly realm. Sooner or later, Georgina knows she'll be too weak to resist. And when that happens, she'll discover who she can trust, who she can't...and that Hell is far from the worst place to spend eternity.

By ROROBLU'S MUM TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
I got this book and read it in the space of 2hrs - I initially wanted to read it slowly to savour every bit of it, as it's been some time coming, but it drew me in so totally that I put everything else aside.

What can I say without giving away too much of the plot/spoilers? Well, it's emotional, it picks up right where the last left off, and we see how much Georgina's friends do actually care for her, and how they are there for her. I'm talking about Cody, Peter, Roman, Carter, Erik and yes, Jerome her demon-boss - all of them really go out on a limb for her when needed.

It was a very emotional book for Georgina, Maddie, Roman and Seth, and I am so glad that in my eyes, Seth managed to redeem himself. There was heartbreak for more than one character and the death of a character that we've seen in all of the books, but so much more is now apparent i.e. how Georgina's past is present in her present and that certain people are more than they seem/not quite who we think they are. Certainly the intrigue is subtle, but I was glad to have some of my perceptions confirmed...

A lot of the book takes place in the realm of the Oneroi, into which Georgie has been sucked against her will (she kept getting visited by a Siren-like entity that fed on her unhappiness and wasted love), so there are flashbacks to actual events in Georgie's past, visions of alternative events and we even get to find out the identity of the man in her dream where she is a mother of a baby girl, in her house with a garden and a white picket fence, with her two cats...and I for one was not disappointed. Yes, it was a dream sequence, as previously shown by Nyx in another book, but despite Georgie's conviction that love, marriage, HEA and kids are not for her, we kept getting told that people's futures can change...so there's hope that Georgie will get her HEA, whoever her love interest turns out to be.

The next book, out some time in 2011, is the last in the series and I for one cannot wait for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Georgina Kincaid Series Book 5 17 May 2010
By Sarah Gibson TOP 50 REVIEWER TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
Succubus Shadows is the 5th book in the Georgina Kincaid series & continues the story not long after the ending of Succubus Heat. While my review won't give you any spoilers for this book I can't help but give information about the previous books so if you're new to the series please don't read any further. I'd highly recommend checking this series out though - so have a look at the reviews for book 1 Succubus Blues.

Georgina has a lot on her plate, not only has she gained one of her ex-boyfriends as a roommate but she is also helping to plan her best friend's wedding which would be fine if Maddie wasn't marrying the love of Georgina's life. To top it all off there is a new succubus in town who seems intent on hooking up with Seth and she is being targeted by a strange supernatural force that wants to destroy her. She is going to need the help of all of her friends if she is going to survive.

All I can say is wow! This latest installment in the series had me on the edge of my seat and gripped until the very last page. We learn so much more about Georgina's past and get to understand how she got to where she is now and what life has been like for her as an immortal. It's heartbreaking watching Georgina help Maddie prepare for her wedding to Seth but there are also laugh out loud moments with her friends. Richelle Mead has done a fantastic job starting to tie the threads from the ongoing storyline together and the plot takes even more twists that I really didn't see coming.

I don't want to give anything away because I want you to be able to enjoy the unfolding story as much as I did. I will just say that we get to see just how much Georgina means to her friends when they go all out to rescue her when she is in trouble. We also get to see much more of both Carter and Jerome in this book & I enjoyed finding out more about them both. If you're a fan of the series then you're going to love this installment which I think is probably my favorite book in the series so far. The only disappointment I have is that I've got to wait a year to read the next book which will be the final book in the series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exhausting Emotional Rollercoaster!!! 12 April 2010
Format:Paperback
Wow! I have just finished this and am exhausted going through so much with Georgina. She is one of the best supernatural leading ladies there is.
Richelle writes how Georgina's feeling so well I felt like I'd experienced it too!
There's no need to explain the story but I too had one of my suspicions about Seth almost confirmed! Her friends come up trumps and I can't wait to discover more about the lovely Carter the angel.
An utterly fantastic book/series and it's almost unbearable to think we have to wait til next year for the final part. Superb stuff!
