Book Description

Oct 2008

Some days, a girl just can't catch a break...

...especially when the girl in question is Georgina Kincaid, a shape-shifting succubus who gets her energy from seducing men. First there's her relationship with gorgeous bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, which is unsatisfying on a number of levels. It's not just that they can't have sex in case Georgina inadvertently kills him (generally a turn-off for most guys). Lately, even spending time together is a challenge. Seth's obsessed with finishing his latest novel, and Georgina's under demonic orders to mentor the new (and surprisingly inept) succubus on the block.

Then there are the dreams. Someone, or something, is preying on Georgina at night, draining her energy, and supplying eerie visions of her future. Georgina seeks answers from Dante, a dream interpreter with ties to the underworld, but his flirtatious charm only leaves her more confused-especially as the situation with Seth reaches crisis point. Now Georgina faces a double challenge-rein in her out-of-control love life, and go toe-to-toe with an enemy capable of wreaking serious havoc among mankind. Otherwise, Georgina, and the entire mortal world, may never sleep easy again...

SUCCUBUS DREAMS is the third book in the Georgina Kincaid series, which starts with SUCCUBUS BLUES. So if you're a newbie, stop right here and go back; I don't want to give away any spoilers that will ruin a very good series!

Following on from SUCCUBUS NIGHTS, Georgina is still with Seth but not WITH Seth, if you get me, still trying to fill her souls-for-hell quota, still arguing with Jerome...yup, it's the usual.
Except, this time, something is stealing her 'succubus glow', the energy she gets from sex, the energy she needs to survive, and its causing problems. Not only that, but there's a newbie succubus who Georgina has to mentor, all because she is having teething issues when it comes to actually stealing any souls (despite favoring a very barbie-like appearance), and dear lord is she annoying! On top of all that,a very unwelcome character from her past makes an appearance too...

I really really enjoyed this book; I only discovered this series after reading STORM BORN by Mead, another series which I would highly recommend by the way, especially if you enjoy this one. For some reason, the thought of someone who needs sex to survive just didn't appeal to me. However, Mead really knows how to write and really brings her characters and their situations to life; combine that with some original plot ideas, and I regret that I didn't start reading this series earlier!

We are introduced to some more angels in this book, although none are quite as intriguing as Carter; they are in town on a mysterious case that they can't tell anyone about...although they seem to use Georgina's flat as their headquarters quite frequently, and of course she inevitably starts to pick up on a few things.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gets better every time! 26 Nov 2008
Format:Paperback
I think with every book, Richelle Mead just gets better and better. The characters have more depth to them and in this book some behave in ways you never would have thought possible and yet it still makes sense for them to have done what they did. My fave character is Carter and would like to see more of him in the next book. Keep up the great work Richelle!

4.0 out of 5 stars Darker than the first two 14 Nov 2008
Format:Paperback
Although this book was a bit darker than the previous two succubus books, I still liked it. A lot.

Seth and Georgina break up, which in my opinion is not a bad thing at all. Of course I never was a big fan of Seth. He and Georgina just didn't seem to fit together. There were too many things she couldn't share with him, because they made him uncomfortable - and I'm not just talking about the sex with other men. He could never fully accept who she was, with both mortal and immortal baggage abundance. so although I hope things begin clearing up for her in the next book, I like where this book is going; Away from Seth, who made her feel inferior and towards whoever the man in the dream is (Not Seth I hope).

Now that I got that off my chest; The only thing I really missed in this book was more of Carter. I have to admit that he is my favourite character, and I hope to see much more of him in future books. There never was a cooler angel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Richelle Mead Rules 7 Jan 2011

Ok so she's not going to win any literary awards but it's a whole new spin on a saturated genre and an easy read. LOVE her books and her heroine is very loveable eventhough she's a succubus (lol). Cannot wait for book 6

Poor George has the worst job on Earth, she works for Hell! She has odd and wonderfull friends around her but unfortunately none of them can help her relationship with writer Seth going down. They love each other so much but life gets on the way! However, they will maybe overcome that if Georgie finds out that something was wrong on her 'contract' with Hell!!! Well, dive in on this brilliant story, full of seduction and page turner! I love them!
