Product Description

Home cell groups are becoming a necessity in the believer's life, not only for the mega-churches but also for the small corner churches, as well. This book is a how-to resource that details everything you need to know in order to make home cell groups work in your church. The plans developed here are designed to bring intimate fellowship and involvement in the Christian's life, to effectively show Christians how to evangelize their neighborhood and community, and to share their spiritual gifts with one another. Home cell groups, therefore, give church members the opportunity to participate in the ministry of their church. Dr. Cho promises that, ''By following the guidelines I have presented here, you can bring the miracles of home cell groups and church growth to your own congregation.'' So how does a church of more than 800,000 believers grow and work? Small groups, one household at a time. Cho is careful to share both his mistakes as well as his successes. One of the prime ingredients for a successful home group program is evangelism. He insists that the cell groups focus on the neighborhoods and communities to reach the lost. Leadership, training, discipline, recognition, focus, and personal involvement by the senior pastor are other critical elements. There is a careful balance which needs to be struck between control and freedom for each group to strengthen and grow. Great wisdom is shown in relying on the Holy Spirit to strike the right balance. As a senior partner in ministry, The Holy Spirit has grown the body of Christ in a miraculous way. Recorded in this book are lessons for us all, laymen and clergy, large church and small. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

About the Author

David Yonggi Cho is Senior Pastor of the Yoido Full Gospel Church, which is the world's largest known congregation, with a membership of approximately 780,000. In November 1976, Cho founded Church Growth International, an organization dedicated to teaching the principles of evangelism and church growth to pastors all over the world. In January 1986, he led the way in establishing the Elim Welfare Town, a facility for the elderly, the young, the homeless, and the unemployed. The latter would be given training and a choice of four occupations. In March of the same year, he founded Hansei University. He was Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship from 1992 to 2000, and has served as Chairman of the Korean Christian Leaders Association since November 1998. He has also served as Chairman of the Good People charity organization since February 1999 --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

This book is primarily a testimony of how Pastor Yonggi-Cho began building the largest church in the world through the use of home cell groups. It's easy to read, inspiring, revealing of human frailty and of God's great power. It also contains some of the principles Cho used to build his church - very helpful for the rest of us. In summary, this brilliant book from the founder of the modern Cell Church movement, is a great place to start for anyone wishing to explore the Cell Church idea.

He speaks our Language! 9 Jan 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Dr Cho speaks as a lay person even though he is the pastor of the worlds largest church. I had my reservations about reading the book for fear that the content may be too detailed or uncomprehesible for a young aspiring cell-group leader, but Cho has written a simple to understand and inspiring guide to building, or transitioning to, a cell-based church. This book speaks of the principles of building such a church, which seem to be universal...what does this mean?...you will not be able to use excuses about your culture or your congregation. The priciples and groundwork laid out by Dr. Cho will change your perspective on church growth for ever.

Cho, what a guy! 2 Sep 2000
By David - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Home groups are the best! We have them in my 1,200 member church and they have allowed me to unite with the heart of the church and with the people of the church. Home groups are as useful in North America, South America, or Korea. Most of the "mega-churches" of today have them, including Ted Haggard (New Life, CO, 7,000 members), Peter Wagner, and the 90,000+ member churches of Argentina and Africa.

A must read for those who are looking into cell groups 8 Aug 2004
By R. Neary - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
There is no doubt about Dr Cho's influence on our modern day cell group and church movement. He is at the absolute forefront, his insights and heart for ministry are a huge blessing to the church international.

This book is one of the key books to read to help anyone understand the simplicity and necessity of cell groups for church life. The concepts are incredibly helpful and insightful.

This book stands alone on the merits of the principals it teaches. It is not a greatly written book but that is not it's purpose.

Readers that do not live in Korea or asian cultures should carefully apply the principles this book provides. It will work but it is based upon a different mindset that most American church goers don't have. There are other great books by Ralph Neighbor and Carl George that will also give great insight on the american chuches need to move to cell groups and how to do it with out destroying the church or a ministers career.
