Product Description

Product Description
"Successful Fundraising" examines the way in which higher education conducts its funding activities. The book is a compilation of essays by university presidents and chief advancement officers who share their fundraising successes and demonstrate the importance of a team effort between the campus chief executive officer, the trustee, and the senior staff officer in charge of the advancement programme. The authors discuss how the advancement function is integrated into an insitution's ongoing planning process, as well as the respective roles and responsibilities of the key players in this process. The dynamics of the working relationships among these individuals and the ways in which they resolve conflicts also are addressed. The contributing authors also share specific information about their advancement programmes, including their goals, strategies and tactics, as well as: percentage of the institution's operating budget revenue and expenses; average yearly contributions to endowment; contribution to the development of the institution's facilities and equipment; and contribution to the overall marketing and publications efforts. A wide cross-section of institutions is represented, from large public research universities to small private colleges. The successful programmes covered in this book should serve as valuable models for institutions that are developing and refining their own funding activities.
