Fantastic book! It has just arrived and I have already had a good look. This is worth a purchase for nursery or early years primary teachers. 'Active learning' is the buzz word in Scotland and this is it in action! I have been looking to add to the (small) number of ideas of my own and this has lots. They all approach children's different learning styles so they include singing, physical movement and sight games. Many can be adapted to teaching letter sounds (which is what I have been looking for as well.) Easy to find resources which many teachers will have or be able to access easily are suggested. A very good book.

I am a teacher working with secondary dyslexic students and this book has really inspired me set up fun activities to help them read and spell these fustrating words. I thought some of the activities may not appeal to teenage boys and be rather childish but they love making words with crisps, racing the clock, swatting words with a fly swat etc.I have had so much more laughter in my lessons and consequently so much more learning. Can't recommend it enough! I think primary school teachers and parents will find it even more useful.

This book is very useful for children learning to read giving them the interest in what are very common words.
