Product Description

Product Description

Written in response to the Excellence and Enjoyment agenda by a star-studded cast of educationalists, the book demonstrates that the more fun you're having, the more you'll learn and want to learn. The focus is on creativity, using a variety of creative expressions - storytelling, dialogue, play, poetry and song - showing how they can be best used for teaching children today. Each chapter opens with a different genre, such as story, which is then underpinned by research and theory and expanded into resources for activities supported by case studies. This is an essential book for all teachers, especially those who struggle with using forms of creative expression to enhance their students' learning.

About the Author

Roy Leighton, Tim Harding, Steve Bowkett and Trish Lee are an experienced group of educationalists whose focus is on using creativity to promote learning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learning is pants (See p.136)- Success in the Creative Classroom, 16 Jul 2007
By J. M. Fairs - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Having seen Roy Leighton - a contributer to this book - deliver a high octane performance in front of a tough audience of 14-16 year olds, I was intrigued to hear about 'Success in the Creative Classroom' and sceptical that the same man could have sat still long enough in front of a keyboard to produce his chapters! Roy wins, and so does the book, because I have since 'stolen' many practical ideas from all of the four authors who offer practical inroads for teaching with an intuitive, open mind, to open minds.

The lead up to A' Levels and GCSE's seemed much more rewarding-and entertaining-this year. Using Tim Harding's idea of a Learning Song, my year 11's produced their own 'Eddie Wrap' and 'Tom Robinson Ballad' to accompany 'A View from the Bridge' and 'To Kill a Mocking Bird' revision, whilst the 'learning pants' that my A Level Media group insisted on visualising before a New Technologies exam, will remain a talking point for a long time to come. (Thanks Roy).
