I cannot give this guide a poor rating, as I used this before taking the Watson Glaser psychometric test for a consultancy role, and I got the job. They tell me I got one of the top scores on the test too. The book itself is a little tricky to navigate, as you need to look at three sections of the book in order to assess your scoring, they suggest photocopying most of the book to make it easier. I didn't have time to do this so struggled along wedging sections of the book open with my fingers, which was a little annoying.

However the book does help you to understand the ways to approach these questions, so I recommend this book, however I haven't tried others so cannot comment on whether or not it is the best.

I was asked to go for an interview and saw this book on the internet, having been told I would have to do a critical reasoning test as part of the selection process. The company sent me a 'practice test' which was very short and not actually much help. But I was able to match the type of questions to what was in this book and they matched exactly to one of the test. So I was able to have a great deal more practice than might otherwise have been the case. What was also very helpful was all the general tips on how to improve critical reasoning. So thanks Hodder and P Rhodes,I went into the test session much more confident, knowing exactly what to expect. And I got the job!

Approx. half of the book is pointless reading about strategy and the science behind it all; I really didn't get this book to write a thesis on the nonsense of psychometric testing! It would have been a much better value book if it was full of examples/questions as this is the only way to get to grips/improve on such testing.
