In a nutshell

Series 2 starts as Barbara begins her prison sentence after being framed by Camilla. Barbara has left Joyce in charge of Pam and Margaret as they fight to keep Little Stempington free of crime. But Joyce's no violence and sit and talk things through approach isn't working, leaving Camilla, Hilary and Lillian free to plan their latest money making scheme, whilst a frustrated Pam and Margaret watch everything they've worked for go down the toilet...

My opinion

Series 2 seems much darker then series 1 to me, we see much darker elements to the gangs lives of crime; Blackmail, sex and murder to name three. The first series had the same topics, but it seems more real this time around.

The main drive of the series is still the wrong-doings committed by Camilla and 'Bad Girls Inc', and while all 3 actresses are great in their roles, I prefer the characters Pam and Margaret from Barbara's gang. They fit into their alternative lives more convincingly; Pam as the prim, twinset and pearl wearing streetfighter and Margaret as the earth mother who has an unhealthy love of guns.

While everyone seems born for their roles, I'm still not convinced by Jewel's and Bill's romance. Jewel is a much bigger personally and basically tells him whats what.

Episode 1
"We're rather more Charlie's Angels then Emmerdale"

Barbara starts her prison sentence and meets her cellmate, whilst Jeremy hosts senior officers from five of the most violent countries who want to learn more about Little Stempingtons low crime rate.

This is a hilariously funny series with a good cast and good picture quality. My only problem was that the DVD Chapter system will not work reliably and I am still not sure whether I have seen all of every episode.

The real British woman. Quite chilling, absurd, bitterly accurate fast plot with all the character-driven incident you could wish for. Likely to be way over the head of the football crowd but that would be their utter, total loss. Contains no assassination of crusty jugglers but that's a forgivable oversight. Purchase, hide, take notes...

Some things are just so bad that they're good. This is one of those for me. High camp, a fab cast, and one unexpected thing after another. Altogether one of my favorite guilty pleasures.

This is funny! Loadsa baddy, violent , characterful women outwitting their men, but with good scripts & wonderful comic acting. A youthful Tom Hiddleston is great in it. He acts the best look of dismay I have seen..............he's in a confessional. [ Don't ask. ]
The series won awards & deserved it.
Watch it & laugh! A lot.
