This gets the full complement of stars for its sheer effortlessness. The guitar playing is smooth, and the voice, already showcased on BV Social Club is excellent. Ry Cooder's interventions are not unwelcome and La Comparsa betrays a Cooder-like blues feel. From the opening few bars this album has a lot to offer. The recording is excellent too.

Ochoa stood out on 1999's Buena Vista Social Club CD as a real one-off and this album proves that this was no fluke. His idiosyncratic guitar playing and lived-in voice combine in a CD that manages to mix upbeat and laidback at the same time. Not to be missed.
