Product Description

Product Description

Maximizing firepower has always been a primary goal of firearms designers, as experience of warfare has shown that this provides a decisive advantage on the battlefield. For small arms carried by the infantry this can mean weapons firing explosive shells or grenades, but it also means guns capable of firing a lot of bullets in a short space of time.

About the Author

Maxim Popenker was born in Leningrad, graduated from St Petersburg State Technical University, and is a lieutenant (reserve) in the Russian Armed Forces. He is an established author and writer of magazine and online articles on the subject of firearms. He is also contributing editor to a leading Russian gun magazine, and owner of a leading Internet resource on small arms at www.world.guns.ru. Maxim has a long-term interest in the history and technical aspects of firearms, especially those of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Anthony G Williams is a military technology consultant with a special interest in ammunition and automatic weapons. He is the author of Rapid Fire, Assault Rifle and Machine Gun (both with Maxim Popenker), and the Flying Guns trilogy (with Dr Emmanuel Gustin). He maintains a website at www.quarry.nildram.co.uk

Very similar to the earlier 3 books published by the 2 authors on assault rifles , pistols and the MG - the latest on the sub-machine guns covers the history , design and detailed description of all the sub-machine guns from all countries - all the famous ones from the world wars including the new ones from HK , Steyr Puch , INMAS etc are covered

It also tries to explain why the sub-machine guns so popular in world war II with the ubiquitous Tommy Gun was displaced in the 60's by the assault rifles and why with the concept of the PDW , its enjoying a mini revival.

Extensively researched by the 2 best authors in the field and also in full colour - this is a must buy for anyone having the earlier trilogy .

Also for Crowood publishing - An update of the earlier book Assault Rifle is now in order.

This book will not disappoint. Done in the same quality and detail as "Machine Gun" I am proud to own it.
Very informative and simple to read and understand. Makes his "Assault Rifle" book look small in comparison that by the way is another great book. Makes me want to see a second part for the assault rifle book to equal the quality of this one. Would recommend
