Book Description

Continuing his memoirs of his time on Sir Charles Buckley's estate, James Aden deals with obstacles from the discovery of Roman treasure to the tramp living in the attic of Frampton Hall; he finds his days varied, especially with the arrival of Sir Charles's heir, Sebastian who provides him with insights into the life of the traditional landed estates as they slowly come to terms with the twenty first century.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Little Disappointing 8 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was disappointed with this book as it was advertised as "hilarious tales from the countryside." It was about the countryside, but it was not hilarious. Perhaps I was expecting a laugh a page, but apart from a few smiles here and there, it was not all that funny. In places it was rather repetitive and the typing errors were irritating. I am surprised there were so many errors if this book was already in paperback. Very average, only if you are whiling away a long train journey on a wet afternoon.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasurable read 17 May 2013
By Deemel

I so enjoyed this book, it was a delightful look at how we imagine old English country houses and their life and responsibilities should be. No violence!, no sex! just lovely little tales of daily life told by the estate manager. I fell in love with all the characters. For a feel good read I highly recommend this book. More of the same please

3.0 out of 5 stars Style 22 May 2013

Great idea for a story line. I enjoyed the book. I expected a little more humour could have been better injected into the book.
I have read several of his books and although the concept is good a little more James Herriot gentle humour would not come amiss.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Gentle Ramble 1 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
A very gentle ramble that lacks cohesion at times. It shows a degree of accuracy as to the life of a land agent, but I would love to know just where this is set because some elements are accurate to Suffolk but others are distinctly not.

5.0 out of 5 stars A light hearted read 26 July 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have enjoyed all in the series. A touching and at times humorous look at life. I cannot vouch for the accuracy but it has been a lovely series to read although it did manage to create a tear in my eye with this latest tale
