We also bought this for our 4 year old boy who is mad about star wars. I had some reservations around price (seemed cheap compared to the others) and suitability (not totally clear whether this is aimed at Children or not!). Big child or little child it is fantastic.My boy has been playing with it constantly for two weeks and no signs of wear and tear. It makes the right noises at the right time (by way of some kind of simple motion sensor), changes colour and looks just the part. Very robust too and can't really see how you could break it easily without slamming against a hard surface, but that would be true of any light sabre toy.

We bought 2 of these for our twin boys 7th birthday. They are a great idea but both broke after only a few hours. They are not suitable for children to use as the slightest knock breaks the soldering inside and/or the plastic casing. The seller was very sympathetic but said "they can withstand a little light play and waving around but are not designed to be used like actual swords, at the end of the day they are fairly inexpensive items and need to be treated as such" They did offer to replace them at a reduced cost but unfortunately one of the replacements disintegrated as soon as it was taken out of its packaging and has had to be sellotaped together. Please save your child great disappointment and tears and do not buy these.

My nephew really likes this! He's 5 years old and was happy to whack me with it whilst wearing his Darth Vader outfit. The whacking lasted several hours and the lightsaber kept on going.... Enough said!
