Book Description

20 Sep 2010
The real movers and shakers in the fashion world aren't sitting in the front rows of runway shows or presenting their collections during fashion week. They are flipping through the racks of vintage stores, plundering their parents' wardrobes, and scouring eBay for shoes. They are also blogging about their ideas and finds on the web - part of a complex network that is a breeding ground for ideas for the fashion industry. Style Diaries features nearly fifty of today's most compelling fashion bloggers in colourful spreads that reveal who they are, what they wear, and how they feel about fashion. Fully illustrated, this book showcases each subject's personal style; and the bloggers' answers to questions such as 'What is the best purchase you ever made?' 'What is something that you would never wear?' 'How do you get dressed in the morning and before a night out?' are as insightful as they are fun to read. Style Diaries offers readers access to a vibrant community of interesting, intelligent people who may very well be the most influential forces behind tomorrow's trends.

5.0 out of 5 stars A treasure trove of ideas 7 Sep 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I absolutely love this book. As soon as I'd read it, I went back to the beginning and looked through it again. It's bursting with style ideas and inspiration from around the world. Yes, it is a photo book, with not much writing, but the questions answered by each blogger speak volumes about their lives and their creativity with clothes, shoes, jewellery, accessories and hairstyles. It sends the positive message that no matter your budget, location or interests, style is accessible to everyone and the only limit is your imagination.

The photos are fabulous in colour and quality. Its lack of words makes it perfect to read when you're tired, just before bed; just flicking through the photos put a smile on my face.

3.0 out of 5 stars VERY VISUAL, NOT A BOOK OF WORDS 14 Dec 2011
By J. Nishimitsu - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
As I've said in the title, this book is very visual-- which can be a good thing, if that's what you're looking for. It's packed with photos of fashion bloggers in their signature outfits. And I mean LOTS of photos.

My first reaction when I took it out of the Amazon.com box was, "ummmm...that's it? where's the words" I eventually found them-- in the form of bullet points with facts about each blogger. "I'm still afraid of the dark", "I love homemade paella" etc. etc. That was a little disappointing, I thought there might be a focus on fashion related questions like, "what's your go-to accessory", "where do you find inspiration for your style..." and don't get me wrong there are these types of questions-- you just have to dig around for them amongst the random facts.

I can appreciate the idea of the book though-- it's interesting to take a peek into the lives of stylish people...and I get it, (street) fashion is not about rules and guidelines. I guess it was just far from what I expected it to be so it left more to be desired.

Great for inspiration, though you could just search fashion blogs on the internet and find similar pictures with similar outfits...

It's okay, and I will probably grow to like it more...
