Product Description

Never one to do things by halves, when 73 year old Noel Whittall had a heart attack, he was flying at over 1,000 feet, piloting his own paraglider. When he recovered and decided he wanted to get out and about again, he didn't take a motobility scooter down to the shops - he dug out his 1918 "Trusty Triumph" H Model motorbike and embarked on the "End to End" journey from Leeds up to John O' Groats, down to Land's End and back up to Leeds. This is the story of Noel's battle against the elements, the traffic and mechanical tribulations, but it is also the humorous story of his joy at meeting fellow travellers, locals and motor bike enthusiasts; at being close to nature and having the time to philosophise about the state of the world. It is truly an inspiring story of one who would not let a mere heart attack curtail his adventures and whose "Can Do" attitude is a lesson to us all! Decide just how "stupid" Noel's journey proved to be, as he encouraged and cajoled his beloved "H" to carry him "End to End".

5.0 out of 5 stars A stupid thing to do? - I don't think so 13 Aug 2011
Fred Dibnah meets Michael Palin! One man's passion for a piece of British manufacturing history results in an educational, engaging read. Noel Whittall's story telling talents are guaranteed to put a smile on anyone's face - biker or not. There are so many observations about our country and the eccentrics that occcupy it; we are all familiar with them yet we can never quite articulate them with the same degree of wit and wisdom.
Thoroughly recommended.
