Book Description

16 July 2005
John Murphy's sock creations have been featured in such publications as the Washington Post and Readymade magazine. Crafters with a sense of humor, a taste for the weird, wacky, and way-out, and a hunger for the outrageous will find themselves captured by this wildly creative menagerie of sock monsters.
Possessed of irresistible charm, these creatures offer all the inspiration anyone needs to transform cast-off socks into wickedly funny toys. There's Claude with his perplexed expression and tiny tail that stands at full attention. Jordan's always on the prowl; he's got three eyes, so nothing escapes him. And there's something really odd about Estelle. Maybe it's her silly conical head balanced precariously on four tiny feet--or perhaps it's just that she's always sticking out her bright red tongue. Great instructions and charming illustrations make it easy to bring these unique personalities to life. "A Selection of the Crafters Choice Book Club."

5.0 out of 5 stars sock crazy 17 Jun 2007
Format:Paperback
An inspirational book for making crazy sock creatures. The first part provides basic techniques on stuffing, cutting and shaping, stitches and making various bits such as buck teeth etc. The middle part has detailed instructions for various creatures and the last part includes a comic featuring the sock creatures and a gallery.

buy this book its so cool...i made a sock creature and all my friends loved it..its simple and easy to make and all you need is old socks or even new ones! the intructions are easy and it takes you step by step through the processes!

all the creatures are great and the best bit is one sock creature wont look the same as another!!

its also great for giving you a starting point for making your own versions of sock creatures, they go from easy to difficult, and has a gallery of all the ones he's made in the back of the book...perfect inspiration!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Improved my Socks Life! 4 Jun 2006
Format:Paperback
Buy this book! Socks will never be the same again!!
Do you like individual soft toys? Ever wanted to make your own but dont know where to start?
Then this book is for you! The Book describes how to make the creatures really well and even an idiot (me) could follow it!!
It would also be really good for kids (not too young though as needles are involved)
I highly recommend this book. I cant praise this book enough!
