This review is from: Stumble: A Journey Through the Artist's Tiny Mind in 5 Small Parts - Yung/Anxious/Greengrass and Blue Skies/Lovetombs/The Wooden (Paperback)
maybe it's just me, but it can seem incredibly difficult to find a quality read (ie not chick / lad lit) on the subject of what it's like to be alive NOW. so i was pretty glad to pick up a copy of Stumble. this is an excellent book. here we have nostalgia for a golden childhood, the surrealism of talking orange bears, the bleakness of anxiety depression, the phoniness of the London art scene and plenty more besides. the themes are tackled with tenderness, candour, humour and unselfconscious eccentricity in a style that is both poetic and beautifully simple. a valuable acquisition for anyone attempting to negotiate their way through urban life at the beginning of the new millennium.
