Product Description

Product Description

Supported with racing style numerals, markers and hands, the genuine carbon fiber dial of the Stuhrling Original Men's Concorso Chronograph Yellow Dial Watch with its sub-dials anchors a look and feel directly from the instrument panel of a racecar. The engine that powers this sporty timepiece is the precision Citizen-Miyota OS20 quartz chronograph movement with a stop-center second-hand, thirty minute counter, small seconds, twelve hour counter, small seconds and a quick set date complication. The large Arabic numeral at twelve, as well as the bullet indices have all been individually applied to the genuine carbon fiber dial. The sleek sport style hour and minute hands have been treated with the same Super Luminova™ as have the hour markers. The razor-thin, stop-center second-hand features a red arrowhead; and just beyond the perimeter of the main dial is the outer track chapter ring trimmed with gauge-like minute and seconds markers complementing the overall theme of the Concorso Chronograph. The entirety of the dial has been recessed into the classic 46 millimetre round case which has been constructed of the finest grade of stainless steel, 316L. The bezel has been beveled and engraved with a tachymeter to complement the racing theme while the stout guard rails protect the 7.5 millimetre knurled edge crown. With dual ‘O' rings on the inside of the crown, the Concorso Chronograph allows for water resistance to 50 metres (165 feet). The crystal that covers the captivating face is Krysterna™ for durability. On the flipside, the Concorso di Tempo stays true to its theme with a solid stainless steel screwed-in case-back that has been decorated with a checkered flag design akin to the carbon fiber weave on the face. The final accoutrement is the genuine leather strap and clasp that joins this impressive timepiece to your wrist. The 22 millimetre wide strap boasts a checkerboard pattern with color-coordinated contrast stitching and edging.

The Stuhrling Original Story

With dedication to the heritage of Swiss watchmaking, Stuhrling Original timepieces appeal to the most discriminating taste at reasonable prices. The company has roots dating back to the 1800s when Switzerland emerged as the global leader in watchmaking. Stuhrling Original remains committed to its mission of preserving the high standards set in Switzerland manufacturing all of their fine timepieces in their Swiss-owned factory. Each and every model conveys an inimitable story with extraordinary style. You'll find heirloom selections for both men and women that even the most astute watch collector will cherish and admire.

In the workshops of Stuhrling Original, the unit specializing in mechanical movements, component selection, assembly, lubrication, adjustment and testing creates horological wonders entirely under vigilant attention of Swiss ownership and supervision. It is these workshops that produce the mechanical engines that are famous for meeting the highest existing criteria in there category. Starting with the main plate, the assembly process is performed in several consecutive stages up until anchoring the balance spring, which sets the watch into motion. Assembling a Stuhrling Original mechanical automatic movement comprises no less than 30 checkpoints, spread throughout the assembly process. Adjusting the angle of lift of the pallets, centering the balance-spring, poising the balance are just a few examples of these checkpoints; of which all are designed to enhance the performance of each movement. The movement must meet no less than seven criteria, including a mean variation in rate which is the highest standard in the industry in its class.

Stuhrling Original cases are distinguished by their technical complexity, their high-end aesthetic appeal and the quality of their finish. The watch cases are made from antimagnetic 316L surgical grade stainless steel, an extremely sophisticated alloy designed to stand up to intensive use. The rough parts, known as "middlecases" are blanked from a metal bar using a high-performance press. They then undergo eight successive stamping operations of a strength increasing gradually from 20 to 85 tons. Before each swaging operation, the middlecase is refired at a temperature of 1100 degrees Celsius, so as to temporarily reduce the hardness to a total stamping pressure of more than 400 tons. Finishing the cases then calls for fifteen polishing operations, all performed by hand alternating with nine baths guaranteeing immaculate cleanliness. Other components of the cases, such as rotating bezels or rider tabs also require a meticulous finish. The components of the cases are finally assembled by hand and rigorously tested.

Each Stuhrling Original dial has been designed to enable optimal read-off at a glance, while adding an element of artistic design. Stuhrling Original's dials are blanked from a brass plate and two cylindrical feet are soldered below to ensure security with the movement. Polishing operations, creating special effects through the use of vintage hydraulic German machines, and electroplating are just some of the more than forty operations required to make most Stuhrling Original dials. The transparent protective coating is applied in an immaculately clean environment before the various inscriptions are transfer printed using a gelatin pad which takes an impression from an inked block. On many of the dials the hour markers are either individually applied by hand or embossed into the dial and then topped with a special dye. The application of Super Luminova is performed by artisans with a nozzle pen connected to a high-pressure pipe which calls for intense concentration. Once finished, each dial undergoes careful aesthetic scrutiny under extreme magnification, as well as technical testing, to ensure it complies with all predefined dimensions and specifications.

Through meticulous labour, rigorous testing and examination of each timepiece by expert horologists, the vision of the Stuhrling Original timepiece is brought to life inside our workshops, where...

Nice watch, not quite as brightly coloured as the picture suggests and far too big for my wrist and I'm not a small person at over 6'.

Lighter in weight than expected, but maybe this is for someone who likes a lighter feel in a watch? But, the watch itself looks just as pictured. I was not however pleased with the ship time....it took 2 weeks to receive.

Stuhrling Original Men's 210A.331518 Concorso Chronograph Yellow Dial Watch -

I enjoy wearing Rolex (as does my wife), but was intrigued by the "look" of this particular watch. When Amazon featured the watch as a "Lightning Deal", I couldn't pass up the offered price. If providing the initial evaluation on strictly "looks and price", perhaps my four star rating could be bumped up but "time will tell" - let's see how this wears and works over a year or two.

As with any watch, the real test is strapping it on and wearing it. So, the day after receipt of watch, unboxed it, set the time and wore it all day.

Initial impression:
No defects, scratches or problems.
The leather band, watch face and case look good and appear to be well constructed.
I like the large dial, weight and "look" of the watch on my wrist.
I have other (more expensive) watches I prefer to wear for formal business meetings, but have found myself reaching for this watch for wear with both dress casual and casual (shorts).

Having just paid $1100 to overhaul a Rolex I like to wear (owned since 1986), currently trying to wear some of my other watches more often for general everday. This Stuhrling will definitely be in the rotation.

Not worth to buy 15 Oct 2013

It's the third time i buy a Sturhling original.

A Millenia Visonnaire last year: When i got it, there were foreign object on the Dial. I had to send it back

A Special Reserve Emperor Automatic.: The hands on the second dial were off (minutes and hours). I had to send it to the jeweller to repair it.

A Concorso Chronograph : No battery in it when i received it + when i reset the chronometer to 0, it's doesn't come back to 0

Overall, this brand has great design, but no quality control at all. You are better to put a little more money and get an ingersoll or a citizen wich are renown and genuine watch maker.
