An excellent guide which I would recommend to all school and college students if they are writing essays or doing internet research on a regular basis.

The text is clearly written, jargon free and includes good practical examples of search questions. There are succinct 'essentials' sections at the end of each chapter and, throughout the text, there are many 'Hot Tips' sections with useful ideas.

There are particularly useful chapters on selecting useful material from long lists of websites, trusting what you find on the web and how to convert what you find into your own work (effectively dealing with the plagiarism issue).

More practically useful than some, supposedly more advanced texts on internet research.

This book is clearly written, accurate and accessible. One key difference from other guides is that it covers defining search terms with several practical examples and offers a checklist for determining whether a source is reliable or not. It also shows how to avoid plagiarism and produce original work that incorporates and cites or builds on information from multiple sources. Invaluable. All students should buy it!
