Althou this book is written basicaly for the External Students at University of London, it is an excellent book for all students studying part-time or full time on their own.

It focusses on humanities and social sciences, but the advises might apply to other subjects as well. It covers all the general questions you might have as a student, and is done in a very readable way.

Everything from how to study, how to choose books, writing essays and exam strategy and revisioning is covered.
