Although there are explanatory notes, I still find it difficult to understand the old fashioned English language. It could have done with a glossary to explain some difficut words.

Best KJV Study Bible 17 Dec. 2011
By Adrienne Monteban - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Bonded Leather
I published this review at the other page for this product then realized the same Bible was listed twice. Well, kind of twice. This is the standard cover. The other edition has highly designed cover (KJV Study Bible (DiCarta Antique) (King James Bible)). Bottom line is that if you are looking for a King James Study Bible, this is the one. I have at least 4 or 5 study Bibles on my shelves so I feel I have an opinion worth sharing. Most study Bibles are thick, heavy, and the study notes aren't always helpful. This edition, though, is different on both fronts, which makes it my favorite KJV Study Bible. First off, it's thin and easy to carry. Secondly, though, it's got great notes that are easy to read and understand. The notes help explain the text very, very clearly so that I'm not left scratching my head as I have been with other study Bibles. the KJV is hard enough to understand sometimes--I don't need complicated notes as well!

Even though this study Bible is thin, it seems to have all the same features--I'm not sure how they cram them all in. There are short book introductions that give you the background of the Bible book, maps, and thousands and thousands of bottom of the page study notes. This is a great, affordable edition.

Perfect size, great footnotes, attractively covered 22 May 2012

After taking a Bible class and discovering the origins of the NIV translation of the Bible, I knew right away that I wanted to make the switch to the King James Version. I had always been put off by the KJV because of the language; I felt it was too difficult to understand. In light of my reasoning behind switching from my beloved NIV, however, I knew that a good study Bible would alleviate some of the problems I had with understanding the KJV text. I looked at several study editions of the KJV and all were huge, and all were expensive. I have two children to lug into church on Sundays - I did not need the weight of a gigantic study Bible. Additionally, I was looking for my "go-to" Bible, something that could stand up to being written on and highlighted as I went through it.

This was definitely the Bible for me. The footnotes are excellent resources - as another reviewer mentioned, I can't believe how much study material they were able to fit in such a compact Bible. It is neither heavy nor bulky, easily slipped in my purse or diaper bag. The leather bonded cover is extremely attractive and isn't showy at all, and they don't waste valuable page space with unnecessary commentary. I am buying a second copy for my husband who is also interested in making the switch from NIV to KJV, and will recommend this over others for sure.

Good overall but slightly disappointed 2 April 2013
By Andrew - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Bonded Leather Verified Purchase
Most of my issues are nitpicking which is why I gave it 4 stars still, though it almost gets a 3 star. Its worth buying, especially if they ever change the paper to a slightly better quality paper. I want to say again this is very nit-picky, I would easily recommend this Bible overall, just didn't satisfy what I expected for myself.

Pros:
1. Good size, Good weight; not big but not exactly compact, so its good for carrying around to studies, service, etc. but might be a little annoying for backpacks if you carry a laptop and stuff.
2. Placeholder Ribbon
3. The study notes are out of the way enough to be unobtrusive yet helpful if you don't have time to check a more comprehensive study.
4. Overall nice appearance and text readability.
5. It's a KJV Bible. This is a PRO because through shopping, I'm realizing, sadly, theres less options for KJV.
6. SUBHEADINGS!!! Most KJV I've seen don't have subheadings that describe what you're about to read, "The Lords Prayer," "Justification By Faith," "The Ten Visions," etc. Big plus for me.

Cons:
1. The paper quality feels "super-cheap." I have a cheap $10 ESV Bible I got recently and the pages are buttery soft, though I did some research on the ESV and would rather stick to KJV which is why I bought this. My point is my other Bible was a $10 Bible and had buttery soft pages, this was $20 and the pages wrinkle and crinkle more than any Bible I've owned. This sounds pretty harsh, but wish it was a little nicer quality, especially considering the next point...

2. This might be a defect but the binding is bound SO tight it creates "ripples" through all the pages, especially the old testament. This combined with the super-cheap paper makes the pages wavey almost like subtle water damage. I could forgive the paper quality more if it wasn't for how the binding effects it. I'm hoping through heavy use it might relax and the pages feel better, it seems like it's happening so I'll give it some time.

3. This isn't much of an issue but the color of the cover is deep red. From the picture I thought it was black with a tiny bit of color, but when in a well lit room it's a wine red color and direct light it's almost cherry red. Again not a big deal just expected black. I uploaded pics to show this, again it looks almost black most of the time but when in direct light it glistens bright red. This would be a PRO for some because it actually looks nice.

4. No italics for added words in New testament, not a big deal for easy reading but if you create a study bible why omit this feature?

All in all its an ok Bible, 3.5 stars would be more accurate. It would be a five star bible to me if it had better paper and Italics for added words in NT.

Very nice Bible 7 Oct. 2012
By TinkersMom - Published on Amazon.com

Awesome daily reading Bible for study and devotion. The cover is flexible and soft and doesn't crease easily. The pages were stuck together a bit but separated easily. Has a good feel to it, you just know you are holding a nice book.

MISSING the KJV-italics in the NT 13 Feb. 2013
By helge e - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Bonded Leather Verified Purchase
the binding is fine, good and soft to handle... nice smell... :) - internally, this KJV-bible is a kind of "halfway house", that is, it is MISSING one important feature of the KJV-bible, namely the ITALICS is missing from the New Testament ! they are present in the Old Testament however... this lack was very disappointing to discover... it leaves it a "left-over" bible in my shelf... it will not be used.... neither will I give it away as a gift, because I don't wan't anybody to have a KJV with this lack... in addition: the edition has too small letters/text... the study material is OK, but very simple in nature.... overall, not a good "study bible"....
