Biography

Elvis Aaron Presley is one of the biggest-selling artists of all-time, but mere numbers cannot begin to explain the colossal cultural impact he had in the mid-20th Century. He was a central figure in the transformation of the grey, conservative 50s into the technicolor 60s through the liberalizing effect of rock and pop music. Frank Sinatra had proved extremely popular in the 40s with young ... Read more in Amazon's Elvis Presley Store

5.0 out of 5 stars The Nashville Sound at its best 20 Aug 2003
Format:Audio CD
This new release of the Follow That Dream collector's label is a delectable selection of 23 outtakes from Elvis Presley's studio sessions in Nashville between 1961 and 1964. Hits like "His Latest Flame", "Little Sister" and "Kiss Me Quick" can be found here alongside lesser gems like "Anything That's Part Of You", "I Feel That I've Known You Forever" and "Ask Me", all in their earlier, not yet completed form. This CD beautifully illustrates the degree of perfection Elvis and his band, as much as the Nashville engineers, had managed to achieve at this point in the studio.
Of every song there is at least one complete take, often preceded by some false starts and studio banter. The sound quality is excellent - as we came to expect from the Follow That Dream/BMG team. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars ELVIS IN CHARGE 14 May 2003
Format:Audio CD
At last ! - an outtake of the higly under-rated " Kiss Me Quick ", featured amongst 23 excellent selections of outtakes from 1961 to 1963. Most of the original masters can be found on the "Pot Luck" remaster album.

AS always, Elvis is very much in charge as he and his studio musicians enjoy themselves in preparing for the final masters. This very good FTD release is extremely enjoyable in listening to outtakes of favourites including, "His Latest Flame"; "Just tell her Jim said Hello"; "Ask Me"; "Memphis Tennessee" and the always blistering "Little Sister".

Another strong selection from the FTD Team

4.0 out of 5 stars The ones that got away 19 May 2003
Format:Audio CD
'Studio B' comprises Nashville outtakes from 1961-1964, and while some of the songs on this album do feel a bit dated, the quality of the performances is stagggering. Elvis' voice is faultless throughout this CD, with 'Little Sister', 'Easy Question' and especially 'You'll be Gone' being the highlights. His outtakes put most performer's top hits in the shade. Sit back, close your eyes and listen to that voice.
