Product Description

Are you thinking about going to university in the United Kingdom as an international student? If so, this guide is for you!

Agnieszka Karch is a former teacher of English as a foreign language, currently working as an educational researcher. She came to the UK as an international student to start a BA in English Literature and French in 2005, and then an MA in Language, Culture and History.

In this book, she shares her experiences as an international student, provides many practical tips for your first few weeks at university and explains the jargon used at British universities. You will learn about orientation, freshers' and rag weeks, seminars and lectures, sports, accents, internships and many, many more.

If you're an international student, this guide will tell you about things that official sources will not, and you will no longer feel lost in the first weeks of this exciting time that your first year at university will be.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very basic 2 May 2014

Very little depth to this book. More information can be found on most university websites. I don't think any student would find this to be a 'must read' before going to study in the UK.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent introduction to studying in the UK 6 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This user-friendly book gives a very helpful insight into the quirks of studying in the UK. Clear chapters and headings break down a minefield of topics into comprehensible, bite-size chunks in a down to earth and entertaining manner.

I highly recommend this book to any foreign student coming to study in the UK. A great little book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun yet informative! 22 Feb. 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
'Student life in the UK: A guide for international students' is entertaining and makes a fun read, whilst at the same time being informative. The book covers a wide range of practical issues, from typically British cultural information such as how to make and drink your tea, fry-ups, and, of course, the weather - to university-related concerns, including reading week, student loans, funding and societies. It also covers subjects that will help you plan for your future, such as the uni careers service and building up your volunteering portfolio. This guide is a MUST for any international student wishing to study in the UK!
