Stuart Aken, born in Hull, Yorkshire, more years ago than he cares to contemplate, writes short and long fiction and has won prizes in national writing contests. Breaking Faith is his first published novel and was inspired by a visit to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales during the drought of 1976. Staring into the dark depths of a sink hole, at The Buttertubs, he wondered what would be the outcome if he saw a body lying at the bottom. From this single idea came the rest of the book.
He is married, with a teenage daughter who is currently awaiting her A level results with a view to going to university to study photography.
He has recently published two anthologies of his short stories.
Ten Tales for Tomorrow is a collection of speculative fiction, much of it dark, but with a few lighter stories included.
Ten Love Tales contains a selection of gentle tales about romance. There is no explicit sex here and the stories are light in flavour, intended to leave the reader with a smile and positive feelings.
He has also compiled, edited and contributed to an anthology of short stories from his writing group. A Sackful of Shorts includes short fiction from Hornsea Writers, a group of published authors writing in numerous genres.
At present, he is writing more short stories and working on the second volume of a fantasy trilogy, in preparation for possible publication soon.
