Comment: A book which is in good overall condition. This means that it will be largely free of page markings, the spine will still be in solid, tight condition and there will be no pages which are missing from the book. The pages may have slightly turned corners but overall the book should be clean to touch and enjoyable to read.

This is the first book I've read that tells you how to prevent and help osteoporosis without being patronising or puritanical. It is a very positive, "can do" book that encourages you to take control of your health, without any weird diets or bizarre exercises, using simple commonsense, backed up by sensible science. If I can follow its instructions, believe me, anyone can! (I particularly appreciated the chair exercises you can do in front of the TV).

This is a very readable book! I am now in the thirty something age group which this book is aimed at and in the last six months have started to apply the diet and exercise routines proposed in the book. I have gone from 65kg down to 60kg; I am a lot more active. My physical sluggishness has been replaced with a new energy. Mentally I feel much better. This is not just a diet and exercise book. It provides a lot of background information which helps to motivate you to stick to the regime. Another factor which is impressive, is that you do not have to be a calorie counting expert to control your diet.

This book is a really good introduction to strength training - excellent lay out and easy to follow pictures. I used it as a beginning and found it very useful - the tables for recording progress are really encouraging as are the accounts from those who have completed the programme.

This book should inspire you to strength exercises. Attending gym with a personal trainer, and he is amazed by my fitness and strength levels that have shot up over last six months. Balance and overall strength has improved dramatically with weight training. No, you don't bulk out as a woman. Also another book by same author Strong Women Stay Slim is pretty good as well, check it out.

I highly recommend this book. It is a little old school but in a refreshing way. Strong women stay young is still spot on and relevent with its exercise guidelines, providing motivation, common sense and good research. It is comprehensive, easy to read and takes exercise education back to basics. Highly enjoyable and enlightening for instructors of exercise and everybody who isn't.

Would recommend this book for the mature woman who is interested in her health and wellbeing, particularly if she is in the "Osteoporosis" bracket, easy to read and understand.

I have been doing the exercises with my 81 year old mother. It is great to see the change in her. She has more energy and is so much more flexible than she was before. It has also brought us closer together. I have also given the book to my sister and to a friend of mine who turned 70 last year.
