Book Description

So how did I get myself into this situation, you ask? Simple: desperation. When you're faced with being homeless and hungry or taking off your clothes for money, the choice is easier than you'd imagine. That doesn't make it easy, though. Oh no. I hate it, in fact. There's nothing I'd like more than to quit and never go into another bar again, never hear the techno beat pulsing in my ears again, never feel the lecherous gazes of horny men again.

Then, one day, I meet a man. He's in my club, front and center. He watches me do my routine, and his gaze is full of hunger. Not the kind of desire I'm used to though. It's something different. Something hotter, deeper, and more possessive. I know who he is; of course I do. Everyone knows who Dawson Kellor is. He's People Magazine's Sexiest Man alive. He's the hottest actor in Hollywood. He's the man hand-picked for the role of Rhett Butler in the long-awaited remake of Gone With the Wind.

He's the kind of man who can have any woman in the entire world with a mere crook of his finger. So what's he doing looking at me like he has to have me? And how do I resist him when he looks at me with those intoxicating, changeable, quicksilver eyes?

I'm a virgin, and he's an American icon of male sexuality. I'm a stripper, and he's a man used to getting anything and everything he wants. And he wants me. I know I should say no, I know he's the worst kind of player…but what my mind knows, my body and my heart may not.

And then things get complicated.

2.0 out of 5 stars So much promise but ultimately disappointing 10 Nov. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The cover of this book caught my eye, the blurb intrigued me and I was really excited to read it, unfortunately the excitement died rather quickly.

The first quarter of this story was just SO slow. I was like blah blah Grey blah blah daddy blah mama blah religion blah dancing blah film blah blah - blah.
I really couldn't have cared less but I don't give up on a book once I've started reading it so I kept on reading, waiting for it to get good, to live up to it's blurb... But it didn't. At all.

It's around a quarter of the way into the book when anything interesting starts to happen and it just happens to be that Grey starts stripping. She has her reasons and given her background you expect some kind of reservations, you expect some difficulty but it was just too much. The vomiting, the constant whingeing and tears, I wanted to smack her. Honestly I found Grey to be a highly irritating character and there wasn't much about her that was redeeming. Actually, I can't think of a single thing that was redeeming.

Dawson is an OK character. He sees past "Gracie" Grey's stripping alter-ego and sees Grey. He is sweet and caring and the fact that he puts up with the biggest load of crap from her and still wants her makes me want to give him a medal.

The romance had one or two fluttery feels moments, but it all just felt... one dimensional perhaps? There was no depth to the connection between Grey and Dawson and with that connection lacking I just couldn't suspend reality and ignore the instalove.

It was my first novel by this author and I will read another before making my mind up on whether to add her to my regular reading pile. A great author can write a bad book so I'm not yet put off and I don't want to put anyone off the author either. Perhaps just start by reading a different book of hers?

Loved it. A simple but enthralling love story.
Grey is the daughter of a preacher and she's got high hopes of working in the film industry which her father is dead set against. She also loves dancing, any kind of dance which her mother encourages. Things take a turn for the worst when her mother dies and her father tries to stifle her dreams of college and the film industry. Grey walks away from her father even though it breaks her heart.
Two years later Grey is struggling with tuition fees and just trying to survive. That's when a stripping job comes her way and its her only way to make ends meet. She hates it but being a popular stripper she can make a lot of money and she does. After being told to dance in one of the private VIP rooms her world is about to change.
Dawson is the number 1 Hollywood heartthrob, the play boy and the bad boy. He watches Grey dance and knows stripping isn't who she is.
Grey ends up being Dawson assistant whilst he's making a movie and love blossoms between them.
Grey can't believe that Dawson loves her but he does. She commits some truly hot sins with Dawson and seems quite happy to go to hell lol.
Although the story was excellent there seemed to be one or two large chunks of info missing. It didn't really affect the overall story but you could tell.
I read a lot of controversial stories bdsm, menage etc so this was a very relaxing romance.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing :( 17 Aug. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Gave up at 45% as I couldn't stick the snivelling wreck that is Grey, and I found her very unlikable. This is disappointing for me as I normally love Jasinda Wilder's work.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay!! 19 Aug. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm not going to lie, I was extremely disappointed with this book!! The story line had such potential but it was just so rushed! I couldn't connect with either characters and there didn't seem to be any depth!! Also, while I don't usually care about insta-love this was just ridiculous!!! I skimmed the majority of the book and couldn't wait for it to end!!

By An avid reader. TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition
I honestly don't get this book getting 5 star reviews for being 'amazing'. This just isn't one of those books that in my eyes deserves getting gushy all over and say it's the best thing since sliced bread because, well, because it just isn't. It's good but it could have been better.

The following paragraph could be interpreted as MINOR SPOILERS by some so don't read if not sure -

I feel there were bits missing to their story, too much going on at the start and her upbringing, then the shortish bit about her stripping, then a whole pile of sex/sexy scenes and no momentum forward in the timeline. Then we whizz forward superquick to the end of the film he was making. Then we're settling down to another patch of sexy bit and no timescale movement and then BAM we've fast forwarded to the end scene.

So although I enjoyed this I can't honestly say I loved it. It felt patchy at best and not deep and meaningful especially after the intro into her upbringing. The start had so much promise although I didn't like Grey at some points she came across very spoiled and 'me, me, me'. I felt like a yoyo towards her Dad I disliked him and then felt sorry for him the way Grey spoke to him, maybe it was just a weakness in how his character was written he didn't seem as bad as Grey was making out. I felt Grey was a blubbering mess a lot and yes I could get some of it but then I think it also bordered on overload. I thought Dawson was an absolute hunk but I think love was professed too quick or it just didn't seem to sit right how it was delivered at that moment in time. But I did like a lot of his actions especially the one after their initial get together.

But honestly I did enjoy this but maybe I was holding it in too higher expectations and it just didn't reach them for me, it's good; it's just not dazzling.
