Product Description

Product Description

A charming and very simple story for the very young about a tiger and a cub who strays too far from his parents and gets chased by crocodiles and swallowed by a whale. Luckily all ends happily. It sends a warm and friendly message about listening to your parents. The story is vividly illustrated with rich art and collage. This is Joanne Partis's first book and is adapted from her art school project. She lives in Loughborough.

I am beginning to buy books to read to my first child and have browsed high and low looking at everything that's available. Of all the books I've seen this is one of the absolute best. Stripe is completely loveable, the pictures are fantastic and I can't wait to see other Stripe books.

'Stripe' is a charming and witty short story by the illustrator Joanne Partis. 'Stripe' is a little tiger cub who explores the jungle in a series of mini adventures as he learns how to become a big cat in the real world. The colourful illustrations are collaged and project the wonderful sense of chaos in the jungle. Jo has the ability to make observation come alive in very simple characters like Stripe, and it it is this attention to detail that makes the book a must - both for children and for adults!

The imagery in this book is so rich and colourful that young children will be enchanted. The main character, 'Stripe' is delightful, and a raport is instantly created with him, ensuring children will come back to this book time and time again. I imagine the future for a character as strong as this lies along the same path as characters such as 'Spot' and 'Elmer'. I hope to see more of him in the future, and my nephews and neices will be receiving this book for Christmas so that they can also fall in love with 'Stripe'.
