Product Description

The Strikeback Advanced Animal Repeller is an effective way to help rid your garden of uninvited animal visitors. It combines a sophisticated PIR detection system that detects movement and triggers short bursts of powerful ultrasonic sound waves and flashing strobe lights that serve to help create an environment that the pests would rather not be in. Working in this way the Strikeback Advanced Animal Repeller can help to deter squirrels, dogs, cats, foxes etc. Unlike many other garden pest repellers which rely solely on sound, this model also features super bright flashing strobe lights (that can be turned off) to act as an additional visual deterrent. In addition to the increased deterrent this provides in the garden, the strobe lights also make it ideal for repelling squirrels in a loft area. As the Strikeback Advanced Animal Repeller is a battery operated unit, it is also great to use in the loft if you don't have access to a power point. Please note that all forms of pest control take variable amounts of time to be effective. This is because every pest infestation is unique due to environmental and geographical considerations. Pest repellers are no different in this regards and although most pest control issues are resolved quickly you may need to be patient. Features: Powerful ultrasonic speaker Super bright flashing strobe lights (with on/off option) Advanced PIR detection technology Weather resistant & maintenance-free On/off power switch For use both indoors and out Requires 2 x 9v alkaline batteries (Batteries not included).

I bought this to help protect my allotment from browsers, chiefly rabbits I suspect. Since I installed it areas within its radius of effect have definitely been avoided by nuisance animals, only otherwise unprotected plants outside of this radius have been nibbled.

Additionally, it appears to be very economical with batteries. It takes 2 x 9v batteries, and the first pair of batteries are still going strong, several weeks after installation. This contrasts with my other ultrasonic pest-scarer, sold at a well known DIY store as a dog and cat scarer; also effective against other animals, but it eats AA batteries for breakfast, and may prove too expensive to maintain to be worth it. If I have to ditch that item, I would be more than happy to consider buying a second Strikeback repeller to replace it, they are equally effective and the Strikeback seems far more economical to run.

So: it's a tad pricey to purchase, but running costs are so far minimal and it does work to deter the bunnies; so can recommend wholeheartedly to those seeking a humane solution to plant-munching nuisance animals.

Only small negative feature is ... well, I'm well past that big 5-0 and can definitely hear the sonic output! It's right at that upper limit but it's still there. Guess I may have supersonic earsight or something, but can't guarantee that this will not be audible to some users. Since the best thing to do with this when you are working on your plot is to switch it off, in order not to drain batteries unnecessarily, this is not really a big problem - but I'm glad I sited it so its area of effect is directed away from the other plots on my site.

Still have to give it 5 stars for its sheer effectiveness. Does what it says on the box!

...in the loft, you realise why they're called pests. That's what I bought this device for. I set it up wrongly to start with. Read the instructions! Attach the casing at a height of about ten inches (25cm) above floor level, pointed in the direction you think they're getting in. Set the repeller to ultrasonic - if you set it to the audible frequency, the little blighters ignore it. Then sit outside and watch them going in under the eaves, and come flying out again. The really don't like it! And it doesn't do them any physical harm, though they may require counselling afterwards.
It isn't actually cheap, but it worked for me... All I have to do now is block up the hole.

Excellent product 10 Sep 2011

I've been using one of these in my garden for about 2 years. It has managed to deter cats, dogs and badgers! No more animal poo! The batteries seem to last for about 6 months. It survived last winter (I put a plastic food box over it for snow protection). However it recently got blown over and drenched, so is not working, which is why I am replacing it. If you are bothered by animals in your garden I suggest you get one.

Does not deter deer
Woke up this morning to extensive deer damage even though the strike back unit is installed and works. Works OK against squirrels but that's it.

Pest repeller
I put this in the loft and so far so good. No scuttling noises for a while. However I did use poison, mouse traps and another sonic repeller so I can't say if this one works. Read more
