Praise for Dale Brown: 'Clancy's got serious company.' New York Daily News 'When a former pilot with years of experience turns his hand to writing thrillers you can take their authenticity for granted. His writing is exceptional and the dialogue, plots and characters are first-class!far too good to be missed.' Sunday Mirror 'Brown puts us into the cockpits of wonderful machines and gives us quite a ride. His flying sequences are terrific!authentic and gripping.' New York Times Book Review 'The best military adventure writer in the country.' Clive Cussler

Product Description

Action packed adventure from The New York Times bestseller Dale Brown Charged with rebuilding America's long-range attack force devastated in Edge of Battle, Special Adviser to the President Lt. Gen. Patrick McLanahan shocks everyone by proposing to build a force of spaceplanes, able to attack any target on the globe within minutes. The project is led by test pilot Captain Hunter Noble. Just then, Iran's theocratic regime falls victim to a swift military coup that reveals its immense military power to the world. The new self-appointed Iranian president, General Buzhazi wants to normalize relations between Israel and the United States. Buzhazi appeals to the world for help in hunting down terrorists, he argues that only he has the resources to stop radical fundamentalist Islam, and the world responds favourably. Hunter Noble secretly launches several reconnaissance satellites over Iran to monitor Buzhazi's powerful forces. Soon the satellites reveal Buzhazi's real plan, planting thousands of Iranian Pasdaran special-ops troops throughout the oil-rich Kurdish region of northern Iraq. The U.S. tries to re-establish a strong military presence in the Persian Gulf and Arabian Peninsula, but Iran has the upper hand now, and the U. S. government realizes it is in danger of losing control of the entire Middle East. But Hunter Noble is already working up a plan to strike back, showing the real power of the spaceplane force.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another really good Lt. Gen. Patrick McLanahan book, 3 Sep 2008
Although not as engrossing as some of the other Lt. Gen. Patrick McLanahan books. This is a good read not as jingoistic as the present US administration is, but still fairly yeah Americans rule. This time do expect some American deaths. One of which I thought was an odd choice to kill off at the time Brown does, but still it seems to fit and if you have been following McLanahan since Tin Man then you could end up giving an audible No! I wouldn't start with this one there is way too much back story. Start where I did with Tin Man you'll be OK.

2.0 out of 5 stars Strike force - stretching the formula too far, 4 Nov 2009
By D. Tamblyn - See all my reviews

Having read pretty much every DB book, this is a disappointment. DB shows signs of desperation, killing characters in an attempt to make the book more than it really is. The plot is confused and unfortunately leaves big holes that I fear the "follow-up" will try and fill.

4.0 out of 5 stars Strike Force - Another novel of Dale Brown's hero, Patrick McLanahan, 25 Feb 2009
By Karl Austin (Stoke, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Another good read from Dale Brown. As any of his fans would expect, the story is well-paced, keeps you in the thick of the action, and has the usual mix of high-tec weaponry thrown in. It takes the usual 'America wins the day' stance, but this time, at least they suffer fatal casualties. There are references in this novel to events in previous ones, so a new Dale Brown reader may find these a little confusing if this is their first DB novel.
