Great Book,
By
This review is from: Stride Piano Tricks (Paperback)
I've not owned this book for too long yet but already I can tell its not going to go back on the shelf any time soon.It contains really practical and progressive advice that can be applied to any tune and is a book that I think pianists of any standard hoping to get into stride will enjoy. By far the best Stride course I've found so far!

Is it right for you ?,
This review is from: Stride Piano Tricks (Paperback)
It's so difficult to buy the piano tuition book that's just right for you - and unfair to rubbish it in a review if it doesn't do anything for you. This one by chance turned out just right for me. My advice is if you know all your major chords, major sevenths, minors, minor sevenths, dominants, diminished, half diminished and augmented, can play them in both hands - but haven't quite mastered all the inversions, then this is probably right for you if you are interested in learning Stride.

A Wonderful Surprise!,
By MAS - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Stride Piano Tricks (Paperback)
I'm a beginning piano player but have some background in music theory. I bought this book because I love the Stride style and was suprised to find in the first section (music theory and chord construction) a foundation that I will use in all aspects of my playing. If you're a beginner, I suggest that you avoid becoming a player who is limited to playing only printed arrangements, but learn how to make music yourself by creating your own arrangements. Ari Kast's book can put you on that path. His treatment of the subject is clear, concise and very accessible. I'll leave it to others to comment on the quality of the remainder of this book as I am only beginning to learn Stride and do not feel qualified to comment.

More Than Tricks,
By Stuart K - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Stride Piano Tricks (Paperback)
Excellent material, excellently presented. A great resource for anyone who wants to play stride piano or get more out of listening to it. The author knows the great Stride players well."Resource" is a better word than "Tricks" to describe the content. A trick is a kind of "one-off" way of accomplishing something --you may not understand what you are doing. If you are willing to apply yourself, this book can give you the comprehension and appreciation you will need to play stride piano well. Moreover, the book should prove stimulating to players of all types who are interested in improvisation, not just Stride but Jazz and Classical as well. 1 of 2 people found the following review helpful:
