Reviews

Kelly Brook and Flavia Cacace present Strictly Come Dancing - The Workout, a brand new exercise DVD that will get your moving, dancing and into great shape. Featuring 4 energetic dances - the Salsa, Jive, Quick Step and Tango, as well as a warm up and cool down it's a great way to workout and recreate the moves featured on Strictly Come Dancing. The routines are set to a fantastic soundtrack from artists such as Shakira, Gnarls Barkley and Survivor. It doesn't matter what your experience in dance is -this DVD is for all levels and ages. There are step by step instructions so you can practise these as many times as you like until you are confident to do the routines. So join Kelly and Flavia in learning to dance, getting fit and toning up.

If you are dreaming of dancing ballroom and have no partner around, get this DVD. It's great fun to learn 4 routines, one at a time, challenging but not very difficult if you repeat Flavias instructions until your feet get the hang of it (this depends on your coordination and how many left feet you have - I have at least ten). Unlike many other fitness DVD, you get lots for your money, as the routines eventually can be embellished and spiced with little details. So if you like to pine and sweat doing plain, boring workouts in order to get fit and loose weight, don't buy this DVD. On the other hand if you want to have fun getting fit, loose weight and prespire while dancing along with 3 pretty barbiedolls, and maybe flash salsa/jive solo at the next Christmas party, get this DVD and give it a go and start practicing.

I loved the previous karen and erin strictly dvd so was excited to get this! I love the selection of dances on the dvd and again the BBC production is first class. My only criticism is that when Kelly is instructing the changes of step aren't always indicated, so you have to keep your wits about you! However Flavia's are easier to follow. If you enjoy dance and secretly dream of being a professional then this gives you a real taster of ballroom and latin. Great to see the Tango in there too!Definately my new favourite!

i am really disappointed with this dvd. i danced for thirteen years all through school but i haven't exercised in 12 years (i'm now 28) and i thought this would be a fun and not too challenging way to get me fit again. flavia explains the dance routines well without music so you have a chance to learn the steps however she only does two of the dances with music.....kelly does the other two. i think kelly is an ok dancer but she's not a professional, her steps and instructions aren't as clear cut as flavia's so i ended up watching the backing dancers. i never really felt motivated while doing this dvd. a couple of times flavia says hold in your stomach or keep your knee behind your toes but other than that theres not a lot of instruction on how to hold your muscles which could render the dvd useless for a person who has never had dance training. you could bounce your way through the routines without using a quarter of the muscles you should be using. my main issue with the dvd is that you need quite a lot of space. the space i was using was about 4m by 4m and i still found myself holding back because i'm getting too near the couch etc. i really would not recommend this dvd.

Already owning (and loving) the first Strictly Workout (Erin and Karen's) I was thrilled to find out that a new DVD was coming out. And I'm not disappointed. Flavia and Kelly's offering is fun, fresh and funky.

There are seven sections - Warm up, Salsa, Tango, Quickstep, Slow Jive, Fast Jive and Cool Down. Flavia leads the Tango, and the two jive sections, Kelly leads the Salsa and the Quickstep. Both girls present the Warm Up and Cool Down.

The dances are a little easier to follow than in the first DVD, but no less motivating. For the Salsa, the Quickstep and the Jives, the cycle of moves is repeated three times (the cycles were repeated only twice in Erin and Karen's DVD) therefore there are less steps to remember, which means it takes less time to really get to know the dances and really feel the benefits (The other sections of the DVD repeat the routine twice).

The tango requires a chair to carry out and it is a slower routine, aimed at toning (with particular emphasis on abs). Out of the other dances, the Salsa is the easiest in terms of workout intensity, intensity builds in the Quickstep, and the fastest and most physically demanding is the Fast Jive. The slow jive may be a little too sedate to people who are used to working out, but beginners will benefit from this as they start out, before tackling the fast jive which really builds up a sweat.

The choreography is great. Flavia is a very skilled dancer and in my opinion a very good instructor. The DVD is well produced and the music well chosen.

I bought Lilia's latinatone dvd and really enjoyed it, so I though I'd try another dance based one. Big mistake! worst of all the strictly fitness dvd's. Kelly Brook looks totally out of her depth, the exercises/steps are not explained enough and are very fast for a beginner. In future I'm sticking with latinatone.

I was disappointed with this workout. You need a high backed dining room for the 'Tango' and an awful lot of room. It's also very difficult to do the 'Salsa' if you don't have a wooden floor as there are a lot of quick spins which don't really work on carpet. The instructions are not very good either - more repetition is needed for a beginner. Rather than repeat a few steps at a time and build up to the whole routine, they show you all the steps in one go. I wouldn't recommend this and I'm selling my copy!
