Warning: this CD will make you want to dance.
I love to dance and I already own quite a few Dance music CD's, and loads of dance records. In many strict tempo collections the recordings are too strict and lack spirit, and therefore do not make good listening. Do not panic this CD is refreshing good.
I watch `Strictly' and have been impressed by the originality and freshness of the musical interpretations and the vocals.
The CD covers all the traditional dances and is well balanced between Latin and ballroom. The production is very good, as you would expect of a BBC product.
Would I recommend the content?
It is unusual for me to find inspiring Waltz's but this CD has two, 'Come Away with Me',and the track 'With you I'm born again' is simply the best waltz I have ever heard. What could make a better Jive than 'Great Balls of Fire' and `Do you Love Me?' How Deep is Your Love and Hero captures the spirit of the Rhumba perfectly, `Love is in the Air' and 'Livin'La Vida Loca' are both punchy excellent Sambas. The Quickstep `Stepping out with My Baby' makes me want to break into Woodpecker taps. Roxanne is such an evocative Tango as is La Cumposita. 'Lady Marmalade'is a very good Cha Cha.
The rest of the tracks are all excellent for dancing. If I have one criticism it is the Foxtrots, the vocals in my opinion are a bit thin, sorry Bruce but Sinatra is a tough act to follow. So, for dancing a five star rating, but if just for listening four stars but still worth every penny.
