At thirty-two, plump PA Jennifer Spendlove no longer wants to put her life on hold to care for her hypochondriac Mum, Alicia. A habit of telling white lies to keep the peace contributes to her sense of stuckness. But when she embarks on a quest to change her life beginning with a series of lonely hearts dates it s very difficult to be honest. And when a sex-crazed Italian hairdresser enters the frame and her new boss offers her an opportunity that might be either a blessing or a curse, it becomes almost impossible. To add to the complications, Jennifer isn t the only one stretching the truth...
Hello there and thanks for dropping by.
I'm an award winning poet, writer and hypochondriac who met my partner of ten years via Internet dating (this is relevant info if you read Stretching It!). We now live near the famous Ilkley Moor with a large black dog called Fable.
I went to school in Nigeria and have co-written several part-fact, part-fiction books about the lives of Somali women. Two were published in 2007 and another two are in the pipeline. I also spent several years as Writer-in-Residence at Leeds General Infirmary, working with patients and staff.
I also write a blog, the Reluctant Gardener, about my Dad, who at the age of 87 took on a new allotment.
