1.0 out of 5 stars Not much help at all 2 Sep 2011
Format:Perfect Paperback|Verified Purchase
Received this book today and returned it within one hour. I was hoping that the book would have lots of useful information on how to deal with a dog that is stressed. The majority of the book is filled with results and tables of different stressors affecting dogs - which are basically printed surveys. Following this, there are about 4 case studies telling us what problems the individual dog had. Unfortunately, there is not much information on what they actually did to help the dog. The only information on how to help a stressed dog was very basically covered in the last few pages of the book. Perhaps others have found this book helpful but I honestly can't see how. I have gained more information from general dog behavour books than I have from this book. I would recommend 'Good Owners,Great Dogs' by Brian Kilcommons or something by Gwen Bailey, which are much more useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for every dogowner 1 July 2009
By Joy
Format:Perfect Paperback
This book is a must read for every puppy and dog owner. I bought the German version years and years ago at that time it wasn't available in English. The book is very easy to read and explains very simple how the body reacts with stress. A lot of dog owners don't know that when a dog has had a stress experience that a dog can react in a way the dog owner doesn't expect (this could be day's after the stress experience) but is related to the stress experience the dog had. The book is about how you can recognize stress signals in your dogs and is helping you how to find a balance the life of your dog.

5.0 out of 5 stars coping with stress 6 Nov 2010
By mel
Format:Perfect Paperback
this book has been really useful, i have a deaf puppy who has OCD, she's a border collie who i believe is prone to the condition, as a relatively new dog owner, i was at a loss as to how to stop the destructive behaviour, the book has helped me enormously in understanding dog behaviour and recognising early signs of stress, i am now able to read my dogs behaviour and intervene to stop it before she gets too stressed and this has improved her OCD. it is also beneficial for my other collie who is 18 months old and shows some stress in certain situations which i hadn't realized. a really good and interesting read, a must for dog owners.
