Product Description

What man wouldn't risk his own life to save his son? Vinnie Jones and Michael Madsen star in this action-packed Brit flick. When a young boxer (Madsen) accidently kills his friend in the ring he vows never to fight again. However, years later when he discovers his only son is dying of the same hereditary heart disorder, which has taken his wife, he is forced to break his promise. Falling into a dark future he must decide whether to fight the most feared man around (Jones) and risk it all for his son's future.

Feeble 6 Sep 2011
Michael Madsen looked like he was sleep walking through this film.
A champion bare knuckle boxer? I could take him ( and I'm a 9st woman of d'un certain age!)
I'm not even going to comment on Vinnie's Irish accent except to say it's a regional Irish accent from that little known corner of the Emerald Isle..the Isle of Dogs.
Who cast this thing? Richard Chamberlain as an Irish boxing trainer?
There are so many holes in this movie I spent a pleasant 2 hrs picking it apart.
I refuse to have let it been 2 hrs that I won't get back....always cast a positive spin.
And the fight at the end was dull.
The O'Gradys who live in the flats opposite me have put on a better show on a Saturday night when they're full of ale.
Shame really because the premise is quite good.
Retired boxer comes back to fight for the money to pay for an operation for his dying son.
Unfortunately it just looked like he was fighting to stay awake!

Being the avid fight-fan that I am, I was quite intreagued at the prospect of watching this low-budget, humble little movie about bare-nuckle-boxing in the Irish Traveller community. The acting is acceptable and starring Vinny Jones, Michael Madsen and Richard Chamberlain, the film certainly contains some well-known names. Unfortuneatley, it seems obvious that none of the main actors have even attempted any boxing training in preperation for this film and the believability suffers becuase of it. Watching Madsen and Jones throw punches at each other its hard to believe that one is playing a former boxer and other is playing a champion bare-nuckle fighter. This prevents the action from being believable which is a shame.

The Travellers in this film suffer from being a little too stereo-typed and Vinney Jones is not as believable as Brad Pitt is in Snatch. Jones, at times, is a little over-the-top and when he is; his lack of acting talent becomes obvious. Overall though, Jones in acceptable in the role but nothing hugely impressive. Michael Madsen is as decent as ever but not entirely convincing playing an Irishman and former boxer.

Overall, its not a brilliant film by any means but it may hold your interest long enough for you to enjoy it. Despite the unbelievable boxing, it's an average movie with only mediocre acting.
