I am a ardent user of amazon for many purchases, I found the Streetwize Battery Tester to be an excellent tool. I have a Motorhome and a regular check on both batterys and the charging is a must. A easy to use tool well worth the money, speed of delivery and service excellent. Thank You.
Just received the item today after 2 days since I ordered it. Now, first of all I noticed that the tester that I received is not the same tester they're showing on the pic. The picture is showing two clips and wide body of tester while the one I received has only one clip for black lead and for red lead is just a pin(I will try to share the pic). It also has a magnetic rubber on the back of the tester's body so you can stick it on car's body if you want (the magnet is not that strong though). The packaging has a instructions as well on how to use the tester to check the alternator and the battery. According to the instructions the tester's LED will illuminate depending on the reading *RED=15.5v(overcharging) *GREEN=14.5 (charging correctly) *YELLOW=13.2v (not charging or charging at such low rate). I tried the tester ( *this is my first time checking an alternator and first time using such product*) I followed the instructions correctly and noticed that the yellow LED is illuminated and the green LED is flickering/blinking(on fast rate). Now I looked the instructions again and it doesn't say anything about flickering of green LED while the yellow LED is illuminated though it says that if either yellow or red LED is illuminated please refer to qualified mechanics. I did a research and found out on most sites that alternators should be outputting 13.5v to 14.5v normally to charge a 12v battery. Now I'm assuming the tester is showing that my alternator is outputting between 13.2v to 14.5v which is seems to be alright. ALL in all I'll give it a three stars because of not very clear instructions(or maybe it's just me) and the picture shown is not what I received and though it seems to be functioning well (A digital multimeter tester will give you more accurate reading and a better option if you are a DIY's person which is probably the reason of buying this ). Haven't tried to test the battery yet.
The only problem with this product are the instructions on the packet. They could be read as meaning the battery should be disconnected before measuring its charge. I emailed the merchant about this but got no reply. Only when I sent a second message from the Amazon rating page did they respond.
