4.0 out of 5 stars a good version of a fine, haunting play 1 April 2007
By Mr. Ian A. Macfarlane TOP 100 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
This is not the famous film of 'Streetcar' - that is the one with Vivien Leigh and Brando - but it is a fully worthy production and deserves respect. Ann-Margret gives a polished and affecting performance as poor, deluded Blanche and Treat Williams is convincing as the boorish Stanley. It looks like a filmed version of a stage production (I don't know whether that is so or not), but that is no bad thing. Anyway, it is faithful to the play, involving and well worth seeing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre 30 April 2009
Format:DVD
Although Treat Williams is a decent supporting actor he's no leading man and this version of Tennessee Williams' seminal drama is a pale imitation of Elza Kazan's 1951 adaptation.
