5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful guide 22 April 2014

This is a good guide for those doing street photography. Most people take photos but one can really enhance their photography skills if they were to read this guide book. I always take my camera with me and often take photos of places and people but many times they don't come out right, this books sets you in the right direction.
The book details many aspects of photography that I was not aware of or at subconsciously not aware. The book comes with lovely examples which I think is great many of them from around the world. Loved the breathing technique when taking pictures. Will be trying that one. Another point which I liked is the intentional blur, its gives you some creative ideas.
Overall I highly recommend this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointing 7 Aug 2014

Since other reviewers marked this highly, I had high hopes. There is some good guidance in here but in places it is poor. For example the author advises going to a camera shop and talking to the staff rather than buying off the internet. Yet in the next para she suggests buying refurbished is the way to go, "keep checking on Amazon". In another chapter she suggests going higher than ISO400 for night shots will lead to too much noise, yet the next examples are at ISO2000 and ISO6400.

The biggest deficiency for me is that there are few examples of good street photography. Don't expect street shots in London, New York or other big cities. Rather it is country lanes in rural France, bars in Mongolia, railways in China etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great guide 22 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Street Photography: A Concise Guide is by far one of the best photography related books that I have ever come across in my career. I am by no means an expert when it comes to cameras or photography, but I have managed to turn it into my primary source of income so I am always trying to find little hidden gems, such as this book, to help me on the way.

As the title suggest, the author keeps it concise and straightforward - there's no filler or fluff and I truly feel that almost every page has been used to it's max potential. I especially found the section on light to be the most helpful for me, I have always had a problem with using the right light source and positioning for some reason..

Anyway, I would recommend this to any budding photographer, whether they are in it for business or pleasure and I'm sure even the experienced photographers out there could learn quite a lot from this book. I would give it a 4.5/5.
