Review

The warmth of Adams s writing comes from the affection of a man for the remembered things of his past... Adams can write well. --Times Literary Supplement

James Joyce would read [The Street] to learn about the souls in Belfast as the world reads Dubliners.

A wonderful read 1 Sep 2008
Format:Paperback
This one of my all time favourite books. It is the first book by Gerry Adams that I read; I picked it up at the library and got hooked. He's an amazing story teller, conveying a sense of respect and caring for working class people that it is rare in much of our current culture. It is funny, sad and enchanting.

What I like about this author is that there's no fat on his work, a page a reading is a page of read-value. the plots are a bit weak, but that's for the sake of realism, you honestly feel like you know some of his characters. And, no, there's no mention of politics. Written in simple, good quality English. Recommended.

I was surprised by these short stories. It is a collection of well-written stories observing human nature. You can pass a pleasant twenty minutes reading one of them on the metro on the way home from work.
