Review

Reviews for previous work;

'The art and observations in The Urban Cookbook are more enticing than the recipes. But that is probably the point. King Adz has pulled together 50 recipes, 25 urban talents and five cities in this very hip city guide that would make a great
Christmas present.' The Observer

'A dazzling mish-mash of styles and points of view, Adz's volume succeeds as a visual travelogue of street art and cutting edge design.' Publishers Weekly

'Really great stuff. Quirky, idiosyncratic, but mostly it gave a great feel for the complexities of hip, web-driven urban culture.' Eric Hansen, author of Motorcycling with Mohammed talking about The Urban Cookbook.

'Eclectic interviews, street art, graphics, and photography with a truly global urban youth perspective (uh, no, not "urban youth" like pictures of 50 Cent posing with a cognac in Vibe magazine).' Fallon New York

'Colourful and vibrant, the book is illustrated throughout with original photography, giving the reader a feel for the street life of the featured cities. One of the most refreshing and innovative cookbooks out there, The Urban Cookbook
reminds us of the creative and community spirit that surrounds food.' Pimp Guides

'Just when you thought graffiti books were becoming a bit formulaic King Adz pops up with The Urban Cookbook which combines street food, art and style into one image packed volume. He takes the best of all three forms and mashes it all up intoa thoroughly enjoyable visual feast…King Adz really knows how to bring things alive with his obvious passion for the subject.' Art of the State

disappointing 1 Dec 2010
Format:Hardcover
Bought this book on the promise: street knowledge...The encyclopedia of street culture. But it ends up being a diary of the author's travels and meetings. A one pager on what to do in London... And is heavily biased towards what and who he likes.
In the end, it shouldn't have been a book, but probably a documentary. As a book it just is really boring, hard to get into and uninteresting.
I actually found the films promoting the book more interesting than the book itself.
Shame, I was expecting to uncover a few gems in it.

I arrived at the collecting office with some excitement, it was either the Twin Peaks box set or my copy of Street Knowledge and I knew which was preferable. Fortunately 'twas the latter and I hurried home with my parcel. First impressions? Well I loved the size, it's big enough to appreciate the awesome photography but equally small enough not to black your eye should it fall on your face while reading it in bed! The cover is inviting and quirky, with cute little holes to stick your fingers through and the impressive foreword by Irvine Welsh is engaging without being patronising. Once you hit the main text, press the button and you're off...... This book can be read in a number of ways, it is perfect for dipping in and out of if you have a few minutes to spare, or you can lose the whole afternoon to it and read the lot in one go, which is what I did.Street Knowledge is set out like an A to Z with information on various artisans who have made an impression on the author over the years. It gives you just enough to be hooked then suggests further reading or websites for you to access, should you so desire. I particularly liked the little footnotes that guide you through the key points and of course, visually it is truly stunning. Having read other books by King Adz,I was hoping for another effervescent voyage into the world of urban creativity and clearly this book does not disappoint. Apart from the obvious beautiful photography, this book offers a way into street culture that is accessible to all. Buy this book and prepare to be dragged into the provocative world of Street Knowledge. Oh Yeah, King Adz has got it going on !!!

Love it! 6 Nov 2010
Format:Hardcover
Great book with more than 300 pages of magic images. Learned how to connect street art with pizza. First time I heard about Sabich and will definitely go after that. Cannot stop reading. Very happy to be part of it (page 234, 235)! Do enjoy too!
