A video game adaptation to film that has little to do with the arcade game, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li follows a young Chun Li (Kristin Kreuk) whose dream is to become a concert pianist. Unfortunately, her life is disrailed as the nefarious Bison kidnaps her father and her mother dies of cancer. Vowing to find her father and the man who has abducted him, Chun Li becomes entangled in a mysterious scheme involving the delivery of the mysterious White Rose. But will her determination and martial arts skills - complete with chi fireballs from the original Street Fighter - be enough to come to the rescue?

I'm as Irish as the next guy from Ireland, and I think our accent is great.
So great you can actually develop it just by being born Irish, without ever going to ireland, or meeting an irish person....apparently.

Where in the name of god (or as Bison would say it "Where in the name of shamrocks and shenanigans"), did he get that accent????
He grew up in Thailand!!! His parents died when he was a baby!!!
Unless he was sent to Thailand in a spacecraft haunted by the ghost of his dad father he could hardly have heard an Irish accent in Thailand.
Much less learned to to mangle one so Offaly (get it).

Also, Inez Yan who played the young Chun li and Kristin Kreuk ARE NOT ALIKE!!!
One is chinese, the other is Kristin Kreuk.

PROS:
- About a minutes worth of scenes of bangkok are great, and show the character of the place.
- Some of the characters names are used, this can make you feel nostalgic if you pause the dvd and close your eyes and don't turn it back on.

CONS
- Chun Li was apparentlty placed in a race changing machine as a child in a scene we never saw.
- Bison is placed into an accent changing machine so he can have an accent no Irish person would equate with any particular Irish region.
Actually it would have been more realistic if he didn't know how to speak english at all.
- Bison punches an unborn fetus!!
- Chris Klein is awful in every scene he's in. He has power-ranger levels of awfulness mixed in with dialog so bad it could have been written by repeatedly kicking over a scrabble board.

This film will make you feel have you wasted a whole year of your life.
You'd have a more entertaining time swapping knock knock jokes with a draft from under the door.

Spinning Bird Kack 6 Nov 2009
Format:DVD
The thought of a good film based on the Streetfighter game seemed like a good thing, you'd think that it could appeal to a big audience considering the fanbase the series of games had, and could be back to basics punch up tomfoolery with some decent combat, but unfortunately this film falls short in a host of ways.

For every good thing, there's two bad making it difficult to enjoy. For example you get the lovely Kristin Kreuk as Chun Li. Great - but she's no good at Kung Fu and not much better at acting. You've got the premise of a bunch of one on one fights a'la Streetfighter, but there's none of it...I know, I know it's the `Legend of' explaining her background, but seriously, with a back story this bad, (Big boss kidnaps Dad, daughter roams streets to find him) who cares?

There's the odd homage to the fight moves in the game, a single, and horrendously done spinning bird kick, but apart from that nothing. I watched the short making-of in the extras and they all bang on about the famed choreographer and how they wanted to reference the game, but seriously, the scraps are crap, and the obvious use of wires is so bad, even a simple knee high jump looks like they're in zero gravity. It's unforgivable. Apart from the character names and the title, it has nothing to do with the game. Full stop...Oh sorry there is, in an absolutely unexplained joke of a scene, a fireball which makes no sense what so ever in the world the filmakers created for this film.

Unfortunately I think following this, a grainy and pixellated `Game Over' should be slapped across the franchise. I hope they don't think about putting any more money in to get another credit and trying their luck with a different character, because frankly, they've got no lives left.

If there was a knockout tournament, but for bad acting it would go like this. Kristin is bad, but the guy who plays Vega is worse. But Michael Clarke Duncan is worse than him, followed by Moon Bloodynogood but beaten hands down by Chris Klein. Oh my, he is baad!
3 Points.

As a big street fighter fan I was looking forward to this film, the new video game was awesome and lived up to everything the fans wanted! so i was hoping the film would too, but its no where near as good as the game, its a good film dont get me wrong, but dosnt hit the spot for fans, the action is limited, the use of characters is limited and the story is average, you could look at this as the start of a series of films though, which hopefully will get better. Kristin Kreuk was nice as chun-li and displayed one use of powers a single fireball at the end of the film. Bison was a good character, but never really displayed much power, vega was the most disapointing character he wasnt used alot and the mask was no where near even as good as the one in the original SF movie with van damme in it. overall its not a bad movie, bit of popcorn fun for the average movie watcher but dont expect much if your a hardcore fan, could have been alot lot better.

There is nothing legendary about this film. There is no fighting in this film (more like a pub brawl). The only good thing is the streets. Read more

Kinda like Batman Begins but with Chun-Li instead of Bruce Wayne
Okay, I admit that you're probably wondering just how I can compare this film to Batman Begins - but plot wise it is kinda similar. Read more

No Better Than The Original
