I recently bought this book to help me write an essay for uni and wish I had come across it sooner! It has a more academic approach being from Tate Publishing and gives some history at the beginning. I haven't read it all yet but I as a non-reader normally, I am surprised how eager I am to continue reading through it! There is a good balance of images and text and it writes about artists as well as other issues surrounding the work such as Illegal vs Legal, Street Art or Graffiti, Advertising etc. I would definately recommend the purchase!

If you want to know a history of street art, here it is!
A fantastic book for the price, no one has a good enough reason not to own it!

Some books on street art tend to let the images speak for themselves, not providing you with enough background knowledge to understand the meaning, the intention behind them

For the 160 it has, the book manages to cover more than just one country and the interviews are real eye-openers for anyone who is interested in the phenomenon of street art. I was also very taken with Miss Os, a graffiti artist I had previously not heard of and which is surely worth following.

Well written and documented book. A must have!
