this book is fantastic for that rainy day when your stuck indoors & having an artistic block!
I began to make my first sock-creation he looked soooo cute I became hooked & made a further five. Now I have orders as my friends all want one!
The book itself is superb! The author brings the little characters to life with fun quality photos. The step by step instructions are easy to follow with clear pitcures & explanations.
Because of this book, i'm now happy when one of my socks goes missing! hehe!

I bought this book for my son who is 8 years old and loves all things Japanese and creative. We have had so much fun making our own sock friends, they are easy to do, and the book is easy to follow with wonderful full colour photos. Also on the plus side making sock friends has improved my sons concentration and hand eye co-ordination. I have even had all his friends over to make their own sock friends. All in all a great book!

Visually a great book, but has some significant flaws. Most of the designs need a pair of socks to make them. There are some you can do with odd stray socks, the little pig is a good example, but the title is misleading.
The first 73 pages are pure indulgence by the author & his photographer, they add absolutely nothing to your ability to make the animals. To add insult to injury most of the creatures in these pages are not given making instructions in the craft part of the book.The rabbits & stripy critter on the front cover are not included in the instructions!
The instructions do leave out some critical explanations: how do you hide the end of your thread once you've embroidered the stuffed head of an animal? I'm still working that out for the Cheshire Cat. Also where do you position his legs? It's frustrating!
I'd say buy it if you have a moderate amount of sewing experience, total beginners will get annoyed by the lack of complete clear instructions. Be aware that many of the creatures in the first part of the book have no instructions( why not show how to do the duck for example?) I'm happy with the price I paid ,but would have felt disappointed if I'd have paid full price.
